Ukip politicians condemn leadership candidate's '£9,000 to leave UK' idea (Guardian)
I saw the headline and, until I got round to reading the article, thought that it was a money-spinner to charge people, who wanted to leave, £9,000. A sort of ransom\hostage scenario. Which would, the way things are going, make a bit more sense . . .

I wondered where you were! I'm afraid I didn't realise that you'd started this thread, so I inadvertently set up a rival one. Which everyone is studiously ignoring . . .

Elusive and endangered white-letter hairstreak discovered in a field in the Scottish borders could become the 34th species to live and breed in the country (Guardian)
The above is a few days old now, but seeing it again reminds me that I've been meaning to say that I've only seen one butterfly so far this year.

Unsurprisingly, I disagree - much of her pre-election stuff about Corbyn/Labour was lazy bubblethink.

She is a decent *writer* though (stylistically I mean) which alone makes her less bad than some.

See also anything to do with railways, where everybody is an expert because they've been on a train. Just have double decker trains etc.

Talking of which, Network Rail seem to be doing well with the Waterloo works. Half of platforms have had to be taken out of use for them, so very little margin for error.

Len McCluskey didn't sound very confident with his predictions, and presumably he had access to information on the ground.

I think you have to allow that low expectations was a rational position, at least until May was exposed properly. (I'm not belittling Corbyn there, he did a good job exposing May).
