Over in the US, a planned neo-Nazi burning of "degenerate literature" has been cancelled. The organiser complained of "freedom of speech" being curtailed.

Mind you, the local Asda here had (and probably still has) the word "Stationary" picked out in the stone-work. I did (nicely and politely) point it out to them (the manager) on quite a few occasions but they treated me like some potentially dangerous eccentric.

Oddly enough, the lettering (giving a list of departments) was sited (and sighted) above the customer services desk - the queue for which was, usually, quite stationary!

And it seems that much hyped Tory "plans" to crack down on top pay excesses have now been shelved indefinitely.

Perish the thought all that "TANKS ON LABOUR'S LAWN" stuff was phoney all along, but maybe this also shows it was only Tim Nickothy who even remotely believed this stuff?

I'm not sure about HS3 either.

HS2 is a project that's been put together over 8 years. HS3 seemed to spring fully formed from Osborne just before the 2015 election.

HS2 came about thus-

1) Is there another way of upgrading what we have?
2) Not really. So new line needed.
3) Might as well be high speed.

I don't know if 1 has been looked at properly. Could for instance a 125mph line with very few stops from Liverpool to Hull be built around what we have? More like Cardiff-Bristol- Swindon- Reading- London?

I've no argument at all with more rail spending in the North. IPPR North came up with a figure of £6bn per year underfunding of the North. Let's chop a bit off as Brexit tax, and go with £5bn, and see what can be done.

State Pension is an earnings replacement benefit of course,though maybe not wise to say that too much,they may decide to time limit,make loan recoup later in more broader terms than targeted.
