I was just about to, astonished, retweet a quote from Nick Clegg that I actually agreed with when it disappeared
Back to the normal drivel I imagine....
It said something like Tories saying they are making progress on Brexit are like a group of workers on a building site saying they've made a nice cup of tea.
Probably realised it's grossly insulting to builders

"In 2009, when the UK ratified the CRPD it didn’t seem like anything particularly challenging or unachievable"
"Over the past seven years, cuts to benefits, social care, the legal system and local authority funding have effectively put decades of slow, painful progress into reverse"
"For two days, the UK delegation dodged many of the UN’s questions, made numerous unsubstantiated assertions and, when they did have the data, often used it in ways that were misleading. Asked to provide data on the numbers of disabled benefit claimants facing sanctions, the delegation responded that it was “less than 1%” (a month). Luckily, a sharp-eared audience member noticed a disparity between this figure and the UK government’s own published data and, on day two, the delegation was forced to admit that a better answer would have been 18% a year."
"As for any positives to be drawn from this inspection process, I can think of two. It is enormously heartening to know that the UN has seen through the UK government’s smokescreen, and to know that it recognises the experiences of disabled people in the UK. And, for the next few years, this report sets the benchmark by which our government’s behaviour on disability rights will be judged."

I'm holding several thoughts in my head uncomfortably.
I thoroughly love looking at mums and dads with their children, even if they're royal family members. It's a universal gloriousness. People born without money have just as much right to that gloriousness. The sentiment is often heard, read or implied, 'poor people shouldn't have children they can't afford'. It's a shocking rudeness, it's wrong.
Inherited money and resources another receive without having done anything to earn it troubles me. It's not okay for some people going without necessities while others have more than they can consume. I don't know how to administer and correct this injustice but I know it's injustice.

He wrote in similar glowing terms about Cameron at one time, hard though that may be to believe now.

Dominic Lawson has a new man to blame for the Brexit fuck up. It's somebody who works for Juncker- Martin "the monster" Selmayr.
I love this stuff. Like Angela Merkel and Emmanuel Macron are sitting there thinking "Oh darn! There's us wanting to do a brilliant deal with Britain, and we can't because we ceded power to a bloke called The Monster!"
I love this stuff. Like Angela Merkel and Emmanuel Macron are sitting there thinking "Oh darn! There's us wanting to do a brilliant deal with Britain, and we can't because we ceded power to a bloke called The Monster!"
At the insistence of the Commission — which in effect is acting as the divorce lawyer for the 27 remaining states — the UK must agree to cough up a vast sum before we can even begin to discuss the post-Brexit trading terms between us.
In other words, the long-term future of families in the EU — the people who will benefit most from an amicable trade deal — is less important than getting lots of dosh up front.
This is understandable from the Commission’s point of view. While the UK’s contribution to the EU’s finances may not be significant in terms of those countries’ overall economies, it is of enormous consequence to the Commission itself, amounting to 14 per cent of its total income — notably the salaries and the pensions of the 35,000 or so officials who work for it.
The most influential of those officials is not the President of the Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker. No, the man of power there is that bibulous and erratic Luxembourger’s chief of staff, Martin Selmayr.
This 46-year-old German lawyer is known in the corridors of the Berlaymont as ‘the monster’. Both brilliant and a fearsome bully, Selmayr is a fanatical believer in ‘the project’ and is determined not only that Britain is punished for its decision to leave, but so obviously punished that no other nation will ever again even dream of taking the same action.

The Minister did indeed herald this exciting new era. Last year.Britain’s trade minister has heralded the arrival of a “second Elizabethan Golden Age” as the country breaks away from the European Union.
Speaking on his first foreign visit since the referendum, Lord Price predicted that the falling value of sterling will boost investment into to the UK give exporters “a helping hand”. He told business leaders in Hong Kong that British companies would enjoy less regulation and an “even more competitive” tax system after Brexit.
Major government-backed campaigns will help to boost annual exports from Britain by as much as £70 billion by 2020, he predicted.
Lord Price said departing the EU would hand the country a “fresh start” with an “open economy”, adding: “I will use this week’s G20 trade ministers meeting in Shanghai to start building these important relationships with counterparts ahead of our negotiations.”
Setting out ambitious plans to transform Britain into a “super connected trading hub”, the minister said the country could maintain a close relationship with Europe while striking new deals across the world.
Yesterday, he quit.
Where are his government-backed exports?

Particularly:
http://news.sky.com/story/amp/sky-views ... e-11019976" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Particularly:
So this leaves Theresa May a prisoner not of her Brexit rebels but to Parliamentary arithmetic and the reality of her negotiating hand, and under strong pressure from business interests to sort things out quickly. Her Cabinet allies point out that it is not just Tory MPs who do not want another election but SNP MPs too, they calculate, would fear a further loss of seats, and not vote for an early election as required under the Fixed Term Parliament Act (plans to scrap this appear to have been mysteriously parked).
