It occurs to me that May has finally paid for all her hiding away, refusal to debate etc.

In another world, she could have cut short her speech yesterday, with a cheery wave and an apology for a shocking sore throat. Nobody would have blinked. But no she had to "soldier" on, or face remorseless accusations of chickening out.

Reuters says the German equivalent of the CBI is telling firms to prepare for a very hard Brexit.

“The British government is lacking a clear concept despite talking a lot,” BDI Managing Director Joachim Lang said.

“German companies with a presence in Britain and Northern Ireland must now make provisions for the serious case of a very hard exit. Anything else would be naive,” he said. (Politics Live, Guardian)

For what it's worth (nothing) the cough sounded less cold-related and more like a nervous strangulation of the vocal cords\dry throat thing. And I've had a cold or two . . .

He's right about Corbyn and McDonnell employing the language of populist socialism, though, rather than the more tentative tradition of European social democracy.

Labour supporters appear to have turned out to vote remain in roughly the same proportion that LibDem supporters, SNP supporters and Green supporters did. I, unsurprisingly, agree with Wolf.

Bank of England. Law. BBC. EU.

The idea that Corbyn and McDonnell are liberals who will be content with power sources other than themselves is over-optimistic in the extreme, and shows a profound ignorance of what the Campaign Group has always stood for.

As for Corbyn and the EU. I agree with Alan Johnson on Corbyn's conduct of the campaign. His actions on the day after the referendum, and subsequently, have made his actual views crystal clear.

I should add to the above that intentions of a socialist nature combined with a question mark over ability to deliver is clearly much preferable to intentions of a fascistic nature and a definite track record of woeful incompetence.

I don't hate anybody, certainly not Corbyn.

I think he is awful, and will do a great deal further damage to the UK, but he is in good faith, as is May. Hard to hate.

I would have thought a woefully incompetent fascist was preferable to a brilliantly able one?
