What would be best for country and people now? Tory government declare they've no confidence in themselves? What would that mean, procedurally? Is now better than later? I'm thinking of Tory Brexit as well as their inadequate leadership domestically.

What would be best for country and people now?

It occurs to me that May has finally paid for all her hiding away, refusal to debate etc.

In another world, she could have cut short her speech yesterday, with a cheery wave and an apology for a shocking sore throat. Nobody would have blinked. But no she had to "soldier" on, or face remorseless accusations of chickening out.

There would be a certain irony in the Tories, unlike Labour, actually managing to cause a global recession!

Google 'The economic consequences of Jeremy Corbyn' to get round the paywall, doesn't always work but this one seems to. You might not want to, seeing as the 4th sentence is
The leader of the UK Labour party has already had a disastrous economic impact, by making the Brexit referendum result far more likely.
Disappointed in Wolf for that, he usually talks sense.

He's right about Corbyn and McDonnell employing the language of populist socialism, though, rather than the more tentative tradition of European social democracy.

Works for me, oddly.

From the article
The Labour party disappeared during the referendum campaign,
Utter bullshit. The leadership campaigned amongst labour supporters every day and every night. Labour supporters appear to have turned out to vote remain in roughly the same proportion that LibDem supporters, SNP supporters and Green supporters did. Cameron and Osborne completely failed to take their party with them. The conservative leadership and the conservative party took Britain out of the EU - not Labour, not at all.

I, unsurprisingly, agree with Wolf.

Bank of England. Law. BBC. EU.

The idea that Corbyn and McDonnell are liberals who will be content with power sources other than themselves is over-optimistic in the extreme, and shows a profound ignorance of what the Campaign Group has always stood for.

As for Corbyn and the EU. I agree with Alan Johnson on Corbyn's conduct of the campaign. His actions on the day after the referendum, and subsequently, have made his actual views crystal clear.

La la la.

If weren't the leave campaign or the prime minister you didn't get much press. This is a non-sensical argument to make given how labour supporters voted and is just more rewriting of history. Hate corbyn and/or labour all you like but do it for what happened, not for what it suits people now to make up.

I don't hate anybody, certainly not Corbyn.

I think he is awful, and will do a great deal further damage to the UK, but he is in good faith, as is May. Hard to hate.
