Morning all.
I'll be intrigued as to the final outcome of this poll.

I was a bit shocked as to what it said after I voted but given the number of misleading stories about company tax I guess I shouldn't have been.

It is an odd attack line as so few care about Venezuela.
I do. I think it is emblematic of Corbyn's gullibility and his siding with any anti-American regime. He has terrible judgement, see also Syria. His condemnation of violence "on all sides" is typical of his and the Campaign groups attitudes.
But there are no votes in running with that. Nobody cares.

I actually agree that Corbyn's overly simplistic (even if generally well meaning) "anti-imperialism" is one of his biggest flaws.
But the people using these epithets aren't normally interested in such a relatively nuanced critique, just crude name calling. Its not really much different from when Tory hacks and their captive press used to be fond of describing Ed Miiband's modest incremental proposals as "insane Marxism" and similar.
(indeed, so much so that T May seems to have at least pretended to nick most of them)

IMF: higher taxes for rich will cut inequality without hitting growth
Shocked etc...Higher income tax rates for the rich would help reduce inequality without having an adverse impact on growth, the International Monetary Fund has said.
In an analysis certain to be seized on by Labour as backing for its tax strategy, the IMF used its influential half-yearly fiscal monitor to attack the rationale for the reductions in tax for the highest earners in recent decades. The IMF said tax theory suggested there should be “significantly higher” tax rates for those on higher incomes but the argument against doing so was that hitting the rich would be bad for growth.
“Empirical results do not support this argument, at least for levels of progressivity that are not excessive,” the IMF said, adding that different types of wealth taxes might also be considered.

Evening all. Back from yet another hospital appointment - chemo starts in 2-3 weeks but there's a thing called a stent which has got itself lost inside and couldn't be located to be sorted first. Before you ask, it was meant to be there - it's just moved a bit...
The Chief Inspector of Schools seems to be flavour of the month on edu twitter but it's a bit strange that she's pointing to the narrowness of the curriculum with primary schools focusing too much on English and Maths. Wonder how that came about?
If Tinypic would let me upload the second page it would show the numbers of pages devoted to Art, History, Geography etc - i.e. not many.
And yet she thinks the new National Curriculum is an improvement.

Can't see anything wrong with that - and this was back in 2013.The new curriculum is extremely narrow. The mountains of detail for English, maths and science leave little space for other learning. Speaking and listening, drama and modern media have almost disappeared from English.
