Well that is of course true. Go back far enough and some of the appalling choices made v Labour wouldn't have arisen.
Why do you think that exculpates?

I will answer on my own behalf because I agree with AK's views on this subject and his original postSpinningHugo wrote:AnatolyKasparov wrote:Well if Labour had formed a government in 2015 there would never have been a referendum at all, so that's your problem solved.

The answer is because it has made it more likely that we will get a soft Brexit as the Labour Party (with others) is a stronger opposition than they would be if they had voted against the A50 (or even abstained). Any attempts to be seen to go against the referendum result at that point would have led to a collapse in the Labour vote at the subsequent election and a fragmented opposition leading to a Conservative landslide and the freedom to do what they want
It is my view, and could be wrong, but you cannot show it is wrong as there is no control to measure it against. At least, though, I can admit that my views are not always correct
You do like this word 'exculpate' don't you - I have seen you use it 3 or 4 times recently - do you use it to try to make yourself sound intelligent?
Tell you what I will write all my next post in French to make me look clever - it wouldn't though as it would make me look a bit of a twit!

It's rather odd anyway to use the verb intransitively IMHO.howsillyofme1 wrote:I will answer on my own behalf because I agree with AK's views on this subject and his original postSpinningHugo wrote:AnatolyKasparov wrote:Well if Labour had formed a government in 2015 there would never have been a referendum at all, so that's your problem solved.

Re: Friday 20th October 2017
yes you are right - I think I have heard it rarely previously but it has always been a transitive verb......but as I said it is not a word used in the company I mix withIt's rather odd anyway to use the verb intransitively IMHO.
I have just edited to remove an error and replace with this confirmation of it being transitive
exculpate
transitive verb ex·cul·pate \ ˈek-skəl-ˌpāt, ek-ˈskəl- \
Legal Definition of exculpate
exculpated; exculpating
:to clear from alleged fault or guilt
as time passed, however, the…rule, which barred the admission of other persons' confessions that exculpated the accused, became the subject of increasing criticism—Lilly v. Virginia, 527 U.S. 116 (1999)
