The Thomas Mair trial verdict appeared on page 30 of this paper, along with speculative articles on Mair's grudge about being overlooked for accommodation.

The DM seem to be trying to have it every way - "Hey, what's wrong with asking a simple question of our universities"...at the same time as "Our universities are all hotbeds of anti-Brexitism!"

If things were going well the "Are you now or have you ever been etc" wouldn't be happening...

As I just tweeted, the attacks on Universities are quite absurd.

Not just the Brexit bias story, but Cambridge "decolonising" the curriculum and the largely fake stories about lecturers giving "trigger warnings".

The truth is our Universities are operating in the most uncertain environment that anyone can remember. The government changes its policies on an almost weekly basis, Brexit brings massive challenges etc. etc.

Of course Universities are not above criticism or debate, but this is ludicrous. A distraction of mega-squirrel proportions!

Forgive me. I need to apologise for that last disgraceful thread comparing Daily Mail editor Paul Dacre to a deranged, Kurtz-like figure...
...spiralling through a twisted vortex of savagry and darkening barbarism seeking top quenchthe howling demons in his head. Of course such..
...parallels are odious, festering nonsense. Dacre's much more like Pol Pot, so brace yourselves for those inevitable headlines: "Death...
...to the Intellectuals!" "Cleanse our Land of Clever Leftists!" "Level Oxbridge & Sow the Soil with Salt!" "Lobotomies on NHS NOW!!!!"

“” Responding to complaints about Mr Gorka, a spokesperson for the BBC said: “This was a robust interview, as listeners would expect on Today, where a former Trump adviser was questioned about White House policy.” “”

Complete bollocks . As I said yesterday morning he was GIVEN a bully pulpit and used it very effectively .

There was no BBC ‘robustness’ in sight .

Going back a few years the World at One on Radio4 introduced Niall Ferguson from the 'Heritage Foundation' as though it was a respectable, neutral, academic organisation, instead of being a well-known biased rightwing thinktank . And this position of taking Gorka seriously is along the same lines as allowing Lawson to lie, factually, on climate change .

Gorka comes across convincingly, is a very good propagandist , and has Trump's full approval --

Some bbc journalism is very weak indeed, either they are poorly briefed ... or they just don't care ?

We talked about this yesterday -
NHS may rent spare rooms to ease bed crisis

Airbnb-style scheme to accommodate patients recovering from surgery raises fears of abuse and poor care (Guardian)
The idea is, not surprisingly, getting a mauling on Sky TV News - despite (no, not "Brexit") the interviewer's best efforts.

One of the questions was along the lines of "wouldn't people who are perhaps recovering from something like a broken leg, and who know and trust friends and neighbours like to . . . ". How many times is this neighbour's neighbour expected to break their leg? Hardly the vocational career-path the interviewer is attempting to suggest it is.

And - random thoughts - ramps, stairs, wheelchair access etc etc.

Most responses I've seen seem to think that businesses - as we did - realised years before which systems would fall over on 1/1/2000...and sorted them out in time.

To ask the Secretary of State for Education, what trigger she plans to put in place in the universal credit system to replace that of working tax credits to entitle children to free school meals.

Mr Robert Goodwill

My department is working closely with the Department for Work and Pensions, other government departments and other interested parties to establish criteria for determining entitlement to benefits-related free school meals as the roll-out of universal credit progresses.
No decision has been taken yet; our proposals on this matter will be announced in due course.
