When are the government going to start taking this seriously?Eighty per cent of the Irish road freight going into Europe goes through the UK. There is simply no other effective route. Ferrying straight into France takes twice as long, which is particularly problematic when many of the exports are food products. So the Irish are caught in Britain's gravitational field.
Even without tariffs, the bureaucracy of border checks is a massive issue. Road delivery would face four customs checks - two at departure and arrival into the UK and two again on the other side.

Unless you're the Queen, of course.Labour MP John Mann said :"It is fundamentally un-British to avoid tax".

Well done the Mirror , keep it up .But it recorded losses of £125million over the same period, making it ineligible to pay UK corporation tax.
Despite running a loss-making company for six of those eight years, CIL paid its board of directors a total of £43million in wages and other benefits over the same time frame.
Labour MP John Mann said: “It is fundamentally un-British to avoid tax. The Prime Minister should raise this at the breakfast table immediately.”
Finance expert Prem Sikka added: “It’s very odd a business can pay substantial amounts to directors while not turning a profit.”
A delightful new twist on The Enemy Within""" Fishgirl23 @AnglophileDe
The only ones currently threatening Britain are the government.
And they are undertaking a perfect job in the process. Who would have thought that the enemy would come from within?""""
