If you read some of the pieces around the time of his appointment, before it occurred to people that he might have a bit of a past, it was suggested that whilst the Office for Students is supposed to be there to protect the interests of students in HE, it also had a role in 'protecting free speech on campus' - he still seems an ideal candidate if what the government is after is somebody to make sure that the fees students pay to be there are used to fund speakers who will attack their right to be there because of who they are. It's a bit like the problem with the Worboys case being that the probation board were doing their job, not that they weren't.

Apart from the picture of a naked Toby, Zelo Street (Saturday) was good.

“ This whole broigus has left me torn. I can’t help but feel some sympathy for a fellow journalist being strung up now for things he wrote years ago to try and make a name for himself. On the other hand, Toby is the biggest twat I have ever met ”.

I'm most disappointed.

I thought Chris Grayling was the ideal candidate to fail to get the Tories re-elected. Knew it was too good to be true.

We’ve got two urgent questions in the Commons this afternoon.

Labour Whips

@labourwhips
Two UQs granted from 3.30. 1. @JonAshworth to ask @Jeremy_Hunt to make a statement on the NHS Winter Crisis. 2. @DawnButlerBrent to ask @JustineGreening about the appointment of Toby Young to the OfS.

12:28 PM - Jan 8, 2018
2 2 Replies 40 40 Retweets 18 18 likes
But we don’t know if Jeremy Hunt or Justine Greening will still be in post this afternoon. Both UQs may well be answered by junior ministers ...

Peter Walker‏Verified account @peterwalker99

Reshuffle chaos latest: after Chris Grayling error, No 10 tweets that Brandon Lewis is new party chair, then deletes and tweets again after they spell "minister without portfolio" as "porfolio"
(Politics Live, Guardian)
So they did keep on whoever was responsible for the Conservative Party Conference signage. I wondered what might happen to them . . .

Edited for a "P". So to speak . . .

@JohnJCrace

The reshuffle is now going so badly the govt has had to resort to reshuffling the name of Sajid Javid's department #reshuffle

Stand by for both Health AND Social Care to get the "clueless blinking at the camera" treatment, while people die on hospital trolleys AND as they wait for care homes.

Yes, its little more than a renaming (of the deckchairs) AFAICS.

I have just seen that Greg Clark is staying where he is btw, so that's one that "Shippers" got wrong.
