"Why the Jeremy Corbyn spy story won't change minds - and what could"
it’s to say that it shows that his judgement is suspect because he didn’t work out that he was meeting a spy. Of course, you can fairly point out that the point of being a spy is to avoid detection, but because people already think of the party he leads as the nice and soppy party, telling people that he was too nice and soppy to spot a spy and therefore too nice and soppy to be Prime Minister confirms part of what they already believe.
Wonder if there were any "My colleague visited Westminster, and all he got was a cup of tea and a jam recipe" mugs in Czechoslovakia.

Generally poor results for Tories (HindleA's patch and one gain from UKIP aside) mostly decent if not spectacular for Labour, genuinely very good for the LibDems.

Merkel 'curious not frustrated' after Theresa May meeting

Analysis by the BBC's Ben Wright

Who knew Chancellor Merkel had such good comic timing? She wasn't "frustrated" by the lack of clarity from the UK she was (slight pause, raised eyebrow) "curious".

A masterpiece of wry understatement. Before the prime minister's trip to Berlin, the German government said it hoped the UK would produce "concrete" plans for Brexit soon. (BBC News website)

That is another way of looking at it, but not necessarily an invalid one.

Also worth recalling that JC was never one of the "tankie" tendency on the Labour/wider left (unlike eg Scargill and Galloway)

I don't know if we've had this:
A watchdog is examining the failure of two healthcare regulators to punish nurses, paramedics and physiotherapists who write dishonest benefit assessment reports.

The Professional Standards Authority (PSA) is looking at concerns about the way regulators deal with complaints about nurses, physiotherapists and paramedics who carry out personal independence payment (PIP) assessments on behalf of the outsourcing giants Capita and Atos.

Government raided £1bn from NHS maintenance budget to keep service going

The swoop on the fund means money for new equipment, cybersecurity and modern facilities shrank by 8 per cent last year
The Government raided £1bn from NHS funds to keep services running this year, Treasury papers reveal. The money had been earmarked for maintenance and repairs of ageing NHS buildings and equipment,

NHS funds for essential modernisation shrank by 8 per cent in 2017-18, despite the Treasury pledging £500m for equipment like state-of-the-art scanners and IT upgrades.

you really are easily impressed and also never seem to be able to form an opinion yourself...linking to articles you agree with has its place but you take it to an extreme

If you look back at history you will see that the 'West' has not covered itself in glory and many of the regimes mentioned in that article were funded and supported when politically expedient to do so

Perhaps we can look back at someone like Thatcher and see what regimes she supported.....

This stance of his can cause issues and I think it is too simplistic sometimes but the same can be said of most politicians when you look at what they have said and who they have supported

I still think Ed Miliband was the 'one that got away' and think he would have made a good PM - if he surrounded himself with a strong team to curb his natural tendency to see both sides and so be indecisive.

You hate Corbyn but also disliked Miliband - you did though like the other Miliband who was quite happy to send people to torture or the authoritarian Blair....takes all sorts

As with SH's patronising othering just give the poor money nothing else matters to them unlike 'normal" folk, suffice to say be careful what you wish for.Simple solutions(often "solving "what isn't a particular problem)have/are having disasterous consequences.
