Kes has a lot to answer for. As it happens, PE is now one of the best taught subjects in school. The standard of PE teachers coming into the profession is outstanding, probably because of the lack of jobs for Sports Science grads. This is just as well, since they’re likely to be roped into teaching maths, biology and IT.

Of course I won't return to "hardworker" status(despite a tenth of the effort when not and getting remuneration) until I resent my former self for getting the equivalent of getting halfway to one,of three weekly dialysis session carried out in the home everybody paid 0.000000000001p towards(rough estimate)

For clarity, Bush's article is about Corbyn's speech on Monday, not about Labour's Brexit strategy.

another commentator who cannot tell a difference between 'a' and 'the'

The danger with 'the' is it may need some EU treaty changes or some other protracted negotiations to be in it...

Do you not understand that 'a customs union' includes 'the Custom Union', whilst 'the Customs Union' would mean Labour, a party not involved in the negotiations, would commit to something without knowing what the EU would say back to them....how do we even know 'the Customs Union' is on offer in reality.

There are two amendments going forward - one with 'the' which has very little support from the Tory backbenchers and one that say 'a' which has teased out significantly more. Anyone who supports 'the' is making an error in my view

I will say again - why carry on the pretence of being someone in the legal profession when you do not understand the fundamental difference between 'a' and 'the' in this type of context

There is also the political side - a customs union part is much less controversial from the EEA and so it enables Labour to put pressure not he Tories. remembering that Labour's position only becomes critical if they are in Government

For the Brexiteers they are opposed to a custom's union as much as they are the EEA - and that is much more of a Labour problem

Personally, I don't think a custom's union without EEA is going to be difficult to see working that well but it is a gradual process in bringing everyone along to the idea

The customs union.

It should be easy. You can't keep the gfa and leave the cu

But it looks like that is what the Tories will try.

I can't believe even Corbyn will now say we'll leave the cu.

(No doubt a moron will now insist n distinguishing the current customs union, and a customs union materially identical in all respects.)

I'm happy to read this, knowledgeable people teaching PE is good news, though the circumstances could be more cheerful. I neglected to mention my PE teachers were mostly okay but I never liked the classes themselves (vile locker rooms, lack of time and consideration, opportunities for bullying).

Only a 'moron' doesn't know the difference between 'a' and 'the'

I am fed up of trying to explain it to you - go and read some books on the English language and come back when you have

'My neighbour has a Volkswagen Passat car - but it is not the same as the Volkswagen Passat that I just saw at work'

The custom's union does not have to be materially identical to provide the same outcome, just as the EEA agreement, the Swiss bilaterals and the EU treaty on the internal market are not materially identical either.

This is all really, really simple - and it is me who is a 'moron'? Go figure
