I don't think they can be happy. Racists action and words won't resolve anyone's anger. Top 10 books about council housing
"Throwing the House Out of the Window" (fiction) by Ben Richards. It's about a young council housing officer in East London (based on Ben Richards' own experiences as one).
It's quite a good read to the best of my recollection but, by now, it must be over 15 years old.
Anyway, worth a shot if you happen upon a copy.

They took all the trees
And put them in a tree museum
Then they charged the people
A dollar and a half just to see 'em
Don't it always seem to go,
That you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone?
They paved paradise

The letter, signed by the home secretary in January last year, states that she is refocusing work within her department to achieve the “aim of increasing the number of enforced removals by more than 10% over the next few years”. (Guardian)

People saying "isn't that a target?". Nope. a) "We need 1,000 extra removals by December 31st". A target. b) "We need to alter policy to try to get a 10% increase or so in removals at some unspecified point in the future". Not a target. An ambition.
Yes I read his article. Very odd. There's the germ of a good point in there, but he's basically just completely wrong!RogerOThornhill wrote:Dearie me, what on earth has this one become?

Pollies doing the nasty inhuman stuff while holding their noses, not looking at all closely at any evidence/reading the Guardian, because after all it was TWOTP and they are sovereign, and then the peepul are revolted by the inhumanity involved .PaulfromYorkshire wrote:Yes I read his article. So @AmberRuddHR has to explain how point 2 can be consistent with her proposing a 10% rise in removals. How could she set a target for increasing removals if she didn’t know there was a target for removals? As I said, this is becoming surreal

Either making Michael Gove Home Secretary or not making Michael Gove Home Secretary is a big call now by Theresa May.
It was a rather basic tactical error.PaulfromYorkshire wrote:Well she should never have blamed her staff should she?!Willow904 wrote:The leaks just kept coming. Someone wanted rid of her.gilsey wrote:Rudd’s gone.

Don't think of it as getting the sack, Amber. Think of it as being removed because of irregularities with your paperwork.
Once upon a time a Minister resigned if his staff cocked up even if he was totally unaware of what happened. I’m so sad about Amber’s departure from government - she was a huge asset - brave, principled, thoughtful, humane, considerate and always thinking of the impact of policy on the vulnerable - I hope Amber will be back soon - we need her
