He also compared himself to Sonny Bono & Ike Turner, not sure how Sarah Vine fits in.

"Germany’s dangerous ‘new anti-Semitism’
The far right has co-opted the fight against anti-Semitism to rally mistrust against Muslim migrants and distract from its own legacy."
Seeing an opportunity, the far-right Alternative for Germany(AfD) — a political party that counts known anti-Semites and neo-Nazis among its members — has used examples of prejudice against Jews among Muslims living in Germany to rally mistrust against these new arrivals.

This is stunningly ambiguous from Bercow when explaining that his "stupid" comment was not directed at Leadsom in person.
He insisted that "anyone who knows the Leader of the House at all well will have not the slightest doubt about her political ability and her personal character."

Afternoon all.

I'm currently on day four of new varifocals and the world is slowly getting less swimmy and more in focus, so my grumpiness is starting to ease.

Having just renewed my Labour membership, I feel I should show some enthusiastic support so "GO LABOUR"!

My main reason for posting, however, is to enquire if anyone knows who was the woman on Daily Politics a moment ago who gave it both barrels to Rees-Mogg on abortion? I came in part way through so didn't catch her name but she was very, very good.

Jo Coburn was hosting, but it's the woman who came on to talk about the Irish abortion referendum who I'm trying to identify. She basically made all the points I would love to make to Rees-Mogg on the subject myself, without losing her temper and swearing at him as I would have done!

Thanks. That's her. Bit conflicted to find out she's a dreaded Liberal Democrat, but abortion ought to be a subject a Liberal would be strong on and she certainly was. Less conflicted when I reflect the Libdems are now so diminished I didn't even recognise their deputy leader!
