Meanwhile, a story about Boris and an unfeasible bridge emerges as a distractor

Grieve confirms to @maitlis what I heard - he has tabled a compromise amendment, if government doesnt accept it, he will vote against government on meaningful vote

What could possibly go wrong??
Even if it all goes exactly to plan it's going to mean lots of people worse off or worse off than it they'd been able to claim current benefits, because of the austerity cuts.
I would say fundamentally flawed as a concept, based on false assumptions and default universality very much on the minority case.Just ploughed through the new business case and indeed conveniently ignoring "complexity" and ridiculous cherry picked extrapolations of the simplest ie very much the minority cases.Quite obvious that was the "plan",all along.

Eg our case ignored, surprise, surprise.Worse off in work/cut in income/vast increase in offset costs.

Instead of pissing away money in patronising budget advice to people who had no problem before return income to reliable, knoweable and adequate, just a thought.

The Tory mind is a very warped one. Some sort of create chaos, problems that didn't exist to prove they did and congratulate yourself that you are helping.

Flawed as in seeing complexity as a problem rather than essential
