The holocaust didn’t happen in a vacuum. It happened because ordinary people turned a blind eye to racism & antisemitism; scapegoated & dehumanised a community, stifled free thinking & refused to challenge the cult of an idol. Jewish people know how it starts. #hodgecomparison

Would you say an internal inquiry into abusive behaviour is equivalent to rounding up and slaughtering millions of Jews, gays and gypsies? The disciplinary code applies to everyone in the party, it does not discriminate by race, colour or belief. Hodge's analogy is shameful.

Do you honestly think it started with men in uniform rounding up and slaughtering people out of the blue? How do you think a democracy got to that point? How many ordinary people had to shrug, ‘not see any antisemitism’ or participate in the dehumanising to make that possible?

From the linked article -
Despite Corbyn’s frequent battles with the media, the Labour party remains vague on what it would do to reform the industry.
The Labour Party remains (or, rather, has become) vague on so many things, I feel.

FWIW the DWP wasn't going to gas or deport me,but the fear was real as was the made to feel a burden, uncomfortable,no one has the right to dismiss that as unfounded/not real.Expressing regret as such feelings even though questioning as to motives isn't hard rather than knee jerk bilious condemnation.

Sea lioning
Sea lioning is the process of killing with dogged kindness and manufactured ignorance by asking questions, then turning on the victim in an instant. “In this, the perpetrator endlessly nitpicks and relentlessly pursues the topic, but oh so very politely and, when the target finally gets annoyed and retaliates, the sea lion takes on the wronged victim of abuse role,” says Hardaker.

On a lighter note, we (partner and I) helped a local on/off homeless guy win an ESA appeal this week.

The latest labour antisemitism rumblings (above) get more and more depressing although I suppose there is something in the fact that virtually the only place left to go is to claim that the Labour leadership are secretly planning genocide.

It's worth looking back and remembering how important it is to pay attention and get details right. I'm sure something like this would have happened anyway, but one key factor in kicking off this round of this particular assault was people noticing that about six years ago Corbyn commented on Facebook his support for an openly antisemitic mural. Don't get me wrong - I don't believe anything other than that he just imagined if he'd been asked to support something like street art it would be a good thing to support, and obviously at the time he was just a troublesome back bencher not used to the kind of scrutiny he is now under - but you can't look at it for more than a second to see it for what it is, and the image was directly above the comment he replied to.

And this is all, in all probability, four years before an election. He didn't get anything like this kind of stick during the last campaign because the media and the conservative party had written Labour off before it started. They won't hold back anything next time.
