One of the first casualties of "red tape"removal were sensible building regulations to make adaptions easier and cheaper.

We still have those grants.
Wish I'd profited from them when 'stroked', but fortunately I'm now too well :-)

To think about, will read the rest of this ZW later --

"" The opposition has so far played a minor role. Labour’s ambiguity seemed strategic in 2017, and paid off. It promised to respect the referendum result, yet at the same time assured a “jobs-first Brexit”. It was enough to placate the leavers, while assuring the remainers that nothing diabolical would happen.

The intervening months have shown this to be a fantasy. The softest possible Brexit is simply to accept the old rules with new impotence; any other Brexit would be economically painful, and to what purpose? To execute a project born of an ideological battle between the free-market right and the far right. Brexit corresponds to no Labour values.""

Off to beach and swim, if it's not raining when I get there!

Abi Wilkinson said much the same as Williams there last year, and (as is customary) received dogs abuse for it.

I saw that, didn't mean to imply that it had been abolished . Such a change to see some good news from the UK on the Disability Front.

O.k.We were greedy and had two,not getting them would have cost the State far more directly and ongoing if looked at in purely economic terms.I've noticed they've upped the threshold since. At odds shall we say with constant DWP propaganda and reforms cajoling to move or work more though not expected to work at all applied regardless.

Well all I can say about the latest Corbyn kerfuffle is that some Heil and Torygraph readers must be confused, at least.

Haven't they been persistently told by those august organs that old Enoch was one of the greatest people ever to walk this earth??

Clear explanation of John Rawls' Original Position, the 'Veil Of Ignorance' , and more biographical info than most links --

""Rawls’ defining idea was an argument in favour of helping the least well-off. To eliminate the bias of self-interest, he imagined forcing people to choose how society should be governed without letting them know where in society they would be. People in this hypothetical scenario, he said, would act to protect the weakest in society, just in case it was them. Hence, he concluded, helping the least well-off person was the right thing to do. ""

Which is so very at odds with the current supremely misunderstood adoption of 'meritocracy' as being somehow 'just' . But at least it gives me some (wicked) amusement :-)

Nigel Farage portrait fails to attract buyers at art show

David Griffiths painting of ‘Mr Brexit’ unsold, while Jacob Rees-Mogg work fetches £450

A portrait of the former Ukip leader Nigel Farage failed to attract a single bid at one of Britain’s most prestigious art shows.

The painting, which shows Farage in his trademark purple-striped tie, was featured in the Royal Academy’s summer exhibition. The work, by David Griffiths, was priced at £25,000, but failed to attract any interest. (Guardian)
Odd. I should have thought that there were a lot of people who'd like to see him hang

"Coming Soon - UK in EU CHALLENGE"

https://www.ukineuchallenge.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
The UK in EU Challenge seeks to restore the democratic balance and undo the outcomes of the Leave campaigners’ illegal behaviour.
It has a nice countdown clock, to the start of a campaign, and a 'donate' button which leads to a donation page, with info. links to empty pages.

I think this to do with court case where Gvt. has to respond by Friday Afternoon.

So may have more content tomorrow morning.

There's another case which I think is still rumbling along -- " The case argues that the Brexit negotiations are illegal because long-term British expatriates were excluded from the referendum that led to them, effectively penalising them for using their EU free movement rights."
