Carers UK response to article in Guardian.
On first (failed) application I had to take time off work to attend an interview about work, this stupidity was stopped shortly afterwards.
FWIW I sent my wage slips by post, ten years in the DWP requested wage slips five years preceding they already had,I presume a "cleansing" operation.

I am fundamentally opposed to a single payment for a variety of reasons, not least State recognition in own right. The obvious,to me,inevitable consequence ,regardless of intent is withering on the vine at best,disappearing/transformed into "services" most likely.

Our old CiF friend Golemxiv (David Malone) is back for a flying visit —

Danske Bank – Who helped them Launder?

” All of which amounts to what? There is nothing criminal or even unusual in various banks having relations with Danske. All banks have relations with each other. But is there a pattern? There is a close connection between Dankse and all three of Austria’s largest banks and both of Italy’s largest , in countries that we might not wholly unfairly suspect of being a possible source of dirty money Is this something regulators might think important? ”

http://www.golemxiv.co.uk/2018/10/dansk ... m-launder/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

David is a great researcher, with contacts . At the height of the GFC his blog-traffic included banks, journos, central banks . He joined up a lot of dots which 'should' have led to prosecutions, but of course did not .

It's more that it's a struggle to write per se at 9 in the morning.

Hence it's more of a concoction requiring extreme effort and concentration!

Which makes it all the more galling when original post disappears

Quite a few Brazilians have been quoted as saying they voted for him because they "wanted a change" and that there is no way he will act on all his extreme statements if he is elected because there will be others around to "moderate" him. Hmmm, without wanting to invoke Godwin's law doesn't that all sound eerily familiar? :?

But of course

UK fracking rules on earthquakes could be relaxed, says minister
If seismic sensors detect anything above 0.5 magnitude on the Richter scale – far below what people can feel at the surface – the company would have to stop and review its operations. But Perry has told a fellow Tory MP that the monitoring system was “set at an explicitly cautious level … as we gain experience in applying these measures, the trigger levels can be adjusted upwards without compromising the effectiveness of the controls.”
If we set the agreed safety standards we'll have to stop. So let's relax the safety standards.

Nicola Strugeon on brexit:
Never has so much been lost by so many to satisfy so few.

Scotland has been treated disgracefully by Tories in government the last few years. All the promises to keep the Union together broken. And taking them out of the EU against their will the biggest betrayal of all. Her anger is palpable and all too justified.

Disenfranchised Brits in Europe are hostages like the EU people in the UK . There is an article about the Landlords Association demanding that those forriners have some sort of ID so that they won't be prosecuted for harbouring "illegals" . Potential 'Windrushing' in sight all round if some cretin gendarme decides I'm not a fit person to be here when I have to renew my carte de séjour next year . After 36 years.

U.S. Weighs Blocking U.K. From Global Procurement Pact
Looks like we'll find out on Oct 17th if there'll be any WTO rules to "fall back on" or just an abyss come March 29th.

There's a guy on Twitter who's been saying all along that the government have never intended to do a deal, that crashing out has always been the intention. He's quite likeable and was right about some of the Russian interference in Brexit stuff but I'm rather hoping he's off the mark on no deal, because no deal is going to mean no deal with pretty much anyone, anywhere in the world, as far as I can tell. We'll be trade pariahs.

That's why I am sceptical, the only people who I think genuinely desire no deal (maybe even no WTO) are asset stripping disaster capitalists.

Who, even now, don't have *that* much sway in our party of government - or at least I very much hope, and believe, not.

Liam Fox and his American ambitions and contacts? Just popped (uninvited) into my head for some strange reason.

Perhaps not technically asset strippers, but the end result would be the same.
