We need PfY's expertise in appropriate anagramisation of James (appears not to be very)Cleverly.

I've been tuning in (avidly, but intermittently). Been tired and supine a lot. Also (at the risk of sounding like a bargain-basement Mrs Slocombe), I've recently been having a lot of trouble with my mouse. It went completely bonkers yesterday, but I've now got a new one. Constance nagged me into the acquisition. And much else.

There's a bit just fading into the paywall which really is hysterically funny...

Who on earth thinks that Truss is a "possible contender for the Tory leadership"?

The longer the delay in UC the more likely a change in circumstance and loss of transitional protection, itself a cut of course

After that Observer story about UC, it's now up as the lead on the BBC website.

Universal credit: Vote to extend benefit to 3 million delayed

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-46772901" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Supporters of the welfare reform, which is being introduced in stages across the UK, say it helps simplify the old complicated benefits system.

But the rollout has run over budget, is years behind schedule and has been criticised for making an estimated 3.2 million households worse off.

Some people already claiming universal credit say it has forced them into destitution and in some cases prostitution. Others say they have been left to rely on foodbanks.
But...but...I thought it was so superior to the old system and a stunning success!

LABOUR ABSTENTION ON DEAL STAGE 1 COULD BE ROUTE TO WIN NO-CONFIDENCE VOTE
Skwawkbox has finally woken up to the fact that the DUP are unlikely to help bring down the government if May's deal is rejected as Corbyn proposes.

So what happens if Labour abstains? For a start, calling a vote of no confidence in a government that has just successfully won a vote on their withdrawal agreement is going to look pretty cynical.

It also seriously increases the risk of a no deal Brexit as a GE would prevent the deal from being ratified in time.

And Labour would have to try to win an election against such a backdrop.

Which is not to say the scenario depicted by Skwawkbox is impossible, and it's certainly very appealing, but it's more of a desperate hope than an actual plan as far as I can see.

Eight and a half hours! Is that an (unwanted) record?

I assume that Mr Hindle has been amusing themselves in other respects today.

Travelled through to Halifax today and back via Bradford and everyone was lovely and had no problems whatsoever. The buses have even evolved free wi-fi over Christmas.

It asks you to log in with an email address so I tried poo@poo.com and it let me in so...
