Morning all. Usual busy Wednesday ahead...

So it's "my way or a long delay"?

A bit like those documents which "accidentally" had their details visible to photographers, I doubt this was "accidentally" overheard.

The EU would agree to a long delay because?

Anyway, if it indicates that May is backing away from no deal, it's welcome as far as it goes.

They also don't want no deal?

Though its also true they would require at least some sort of figleaf for doing so, simply "it suits May" won't cut it I agree.

Something about mouldy jam is doing the rounds on social media?

Bet Corbyn's jam doesn't go mouldy.

May apparently told Cabinet yesterday that old jam was absolutely fine so long as you scraped the mould off of the top. A bit like 'we probably won't run out of medicine' this would appear to be another very strange kind of reassurance that everything will be alright.

Maybe *this* is the "innovative" jam that Leadsom promised us would take off post-Brexit?

They were discussing food waste in Cabinet, because there's nothing else to talk about at all.

"UK media must up it's game"
Here’s a question for future historians: will the UK media be blamed as much as its politicians, should Brexit really hit the skids in just a few weeks’ time? If not, it really should.

From a journalism tutor (which the BBC clearly bypassed):
"If someone says it's raining and another person says it's dry, it's not your job to quote them both.
Your job is to look out the f***ing window and find out which is true".

So who knows the origin of the phrase "never jam today"?

Dear Paul,

Are you sending someone a Valentine’s Day card tomorrow?

Well spare a thought for Labour.

Reports suggest that thousands of their members are falling out of love with them.

Could it be the broken promises, plans for higher taxes or pledges that would wreck our economy?

Whatever the reason, if you love a balanced approach to the economy which means we can invest in our NHS, build the homes our country needs and cut taxes for millions of hardworking people then join the Conservative Party today.

It’s only the Conservative Party that’s offering the decent, moderate, patriotic politics the whole country needs.

You can be part of that by joining today.

Yours,

James Cleverly MP
Conservative Party Deputy Chairman

Evening all.

A fairly mixed day in the library - my camera decided that the memory card had an error and wouldn't budge so didn't take any pics of the building plans. Fortunately I upload all photos to my PC after every session so haven't lost anything.

And then having finished my sandwich went to put the wrapper in the bin, stood up, and banged my head on the open door of the wall-mounted key safe...a small amount of bleeding ensued.

James Cleverley, non-nominative determinism in its purest form.
