Too late to be of any practical use (story of my life) but PTO. At least I've tried, which is more than can be said for some people . . .

Journalists have had no part in the "increased scale" perception and consequence(s)particularly those that say "increased scale"

@Refitman

If you ask me would anyone go through years of counselling, get signed off by professionals and go through gender reassignment as is required now just to get access to women's changing rooms, the obvious answer is no. But what does self-ID actually require? A change of name? A squiggle on a piece of paper? Can it be as easily reversed?

I think it's at least worth having a conversation about self-ID before it's made law. If there really are no problems with it, then a conversation won't jeopardise it and yet some transactivists appear keen to suppress debate. Surely if some intelligent and thoughtful transgender people are raising concerns about some people within the trans rights movement and are uncomfortable with some of the stances being taken in their name, there is more going on here than just a straightforward confrontation between liberal values and old fashioned bigotry. All I'm saying is let's not rush this. At the very least it makes safeguarding more complicated and I'd like to at least see some evidence these things have been properly thought through before it's signed into law.

There is something quite unpleasant about women who are simply concerned about women's rights, even if their misgivings are eventually proved unfounded, being called TERFs. It feels quite aggressive and intimidating from the female perspective and some transgender people are worried that these approaches by some campaigners could ultimately be damaging to their attempts to gain acceptance within wider society.

Edited to add I just saw you posted a video. I am appreciative of your willingness to debate this issue and I will try to give the whole video a fair listen when I have more time.
