Yes - just saw Caroline Spelman and Jack Dromey being interviewed on TV. Jack Dromey is not moved to, er, move it, either. What's he up to?

There are rumours that Yvette Cooper may now move it, though. I hope she does - although I doubt it will pass.

May suffers fresh defeat as MPs vote to rule out no-deal Brexit for good by majority of four

Theresa May has been defeated by four votes, because MPs have backed the Spelman amendment ruling out a no-deal Brexit for good by 312 votes to 308.

MPs are now voting on the main motion, as amended.

But this is basically a re-run of the first vote. The result is likely to be very similar although it is possible that, because some MPs may not have expected Spelman to win first time round, they might vote differently now.

[May] says tonight’s vote does not change the fundamental problem; if MPs want to rule out no deal, they must vote for a deal, she says.
Allow MPs to legislate in the best interests of people and country
Not the interests of your Tory party

However, "No Deal" is still a real possibility if there is no deal. So it remains a worry.

Former ministers making the point that if you allow members of the government to abstain on a three line whip you have no way of ever enforcing party discipline.

It's interesting the number of things that are happening where somebody somewhere in the conservative really must be thinking 'what kind of precedents are we establishing that we will despair at when Labour follow them'.

Baker is saying that he/the ERG will continue to vote down May's deal - that she has to go back and say 'it can't pass, you have to give us more'. He's delusional, but he is at least consistently delusional.

SO.... MV3 sometime in the next two weeks, loses, we seek long delay in order to... what?

A chaotic night for Theresa May.

Although I enjoy seeing her snookered, I don't feel that, in practical terms, we've really gained much.
It's all a bit symbolic.

Fun while it lasted, though!

There probably cannot be MV3, because there is zero prospect of a significantly different deal to vote on.

A motion or an amendment which is the same, in substance, as a question which has been decided during a session may not be brought forward again during that same session.

I completely agreee with you, but that would be quite a call to make. I suspect he and they would try and find a way...
