Limit pupils’ lunch portions to save money, say Agnew’s cost-cutting advisers

https://schoolsweek.co.uk/limit-pupils- ... -advisers/
Lord Agnew’s cost-cutting consultants told a school to replace experienced teachers with support staff on term-time contracts, while another was urged to limit lunch portions for pupils.

Secret reports seen by Schools Week reveal other tips from the “school resource management advisers” include saving money on supply teachers by instead using spare staff to cover three classes at a time in the dining hall.

The same school, Corfe Hills, a secondary in Dorset, was also urged to keep 50 per cent of money raised for local charities – including a children’s hospice.

Government will legislate to ensure MPs can set negotiating mandate for next phase of Brexit, Cox says

Snell asks Cox for an assurance that the EU withdrawal agreement bill will contain the legislative proposals in the amendment.

Cox says the bill has not been published yet, but if Snell bring backs his plans as an amendment to that bill, the government will be “minded to accept”. (Politics Live, Guardian)
And we should believe this?

With almost no exceptions, the other opposition parties refused to vote for any proposals in the indicative votes except revoke or new referendum. This is wonderfully ideologically pure, but is a lot like the leave campaign and the UK government refusing to accept the reality of what is actually on offer from the EU in the longer term. It might be argued that this was just a holding measure for the first round of indicative votes and they will actually engaged in trying to find consensus on Monday, but if they don't, and they allow a demand for nothing but a further vote or revocation to come into it, then we're going to leave on the government's deal or with no withdrawal agreement, and we're then going to find ourselves with a new further-right PM taking us into a basic FTA and a permanent NI backstop. I'm not sure there will be another chance for this after Monday.

But the Labour MP Gareth Snell has told the BBC that he is “minded” to vote for the government today, presumably in part because of Geoffrey Cox accepting his amendment. (Politics Live, Guardian)
Is Gareth Snell engaging in sardonic humour (and will vote against) - or is he really that daft?

It seems most leave campaigners genuinely thought they had narrowly lost when the polls closed, I have always been intrigued as to why that was.
