This reminds me of something not exactly related but I want to share my thoughts. I acknowledge warm diplomatic greetings are a convention including embraces and continental kisses between people. Having said that, yesterday's images of May in almost romantic embraces with other European leaders, gazing into each others eyes bothered me. Images of it dominated news. The theatrical display seems cynically manipulative. Again, I understand it's conventional and normally it doesn't bother me. Even if I dislike one or both of the players performing this ritual, I don't get flustered about it. Her and her government are playing with lives. May is consistently a right nasty piece of work in my opinion and I don't trust her. Her deliberate rudeness towards almost everyone is a choice she's made. She's not going to materially suffer from her inflexibility. She'll not go without in any case.

So its been the second XI doing PMQs today I presume?

Unsurprisingly, Corbyn used it to essentially launch the Locals campaign.

Schools, police, homelessness, cuts to council budgets.

Quite right too.

I presume the #FBPE types took that as well as they usually do?

The philosopher's appointment to head the Building Beautiful Commission in November was criticised at the time.

He has now been dismissed after claiming Islamophobia was "a propaganda word" and "each Chinese person is a kind of replica of the next one".

The Ministry of Housing said the remarks were "unacceptable".

He always was a reactionary old bore.

Today I'm announcing the end to six-figure "golden goodbyes" for senior public sector workers. They have cost the taxpayer almost £200m per year.

So I googled it as I was fairly sure that this had been announced before...and found consultations to this in 2015 and 2016 and an announcement of a crackdown in 2017...

The Taoiseach (Irish prime minister), Leo Varadkar, has suggested that the UK would be able to have a say in trade deals if it forms a customs union with the EU.

Apparently most EU member states are OK with us having a lengthy A50 extension, the exception seems to be (guess who) Macron in France.
