Meanwhile, on that populist rising waiting to take over the European Parliament...
A strong result for Labour in the European parliament elections could be enough to hand the European Commission presidency back to the continent’s centre-left, according to the latest polls.
From The Independent. Amusingly, one of the boosts to the left group is Cameron's decision to take the Conservatives out of the EPP, because the redistribution of the UK's seat allocation favoured EPP candidates in other European countries.

Labour could be in for a rough one today - they are almost certain to lose a Scottish seat (even if they do better than in 2017) and have two other tough defences.

To some degree, its just pot luck which vacancies come up.

So the Ecuadorians finally managed to find a way to honourably get rid of him. Breaking asylum rules. It's been looking likely for a while now. Other than breaking bail, though, there's no other outstanding charge against him, is there?

Oh, don't worry, I've found the answer, I think:

Looking beneath the aggregate picture, up to the financial year ending 2018, the richest fifth of individuals saw a 4.7% annual increase in their real equivalised household disposable income compared with a 1.6% contraction for the poorest fifth, resulting in increased income inequality.

But any request to US should not be granted if it regards activities as a publisher.

UK stands down 6,000 no-deal Brexit staff - after spending £1.5bn

Civil service to stand down its no-deal contingency plans in light of new departure date

The government has stood down an army of 6,000 civil servants who had been preparing for a no-deal Brexit, at an estimated cost of £1.5bn.

The civil servants who had been seconded from elsewhere will now return to their normal duties, but there is no clear role for an estimated 4,500 new recruits after article 50 was extended until Halloween.

The Labour party’s Hilary Benn said it was a “costly price” to pay for Theresa May’s belligerent insistence of keeping a no-deal on the table.

“It was important to plan for all contingencies, but this is the huge cost of the prime minister repeatedly saying: ‘My deal or no deal’ when she knew that leaving without a deal was not in the national interest. This is one example of how Brexit is proving to be very costly for our country,” said Benn, chair of the influential Brexit select committee. (Guardian)
