Morning all.

An insider's view on Johnson...

Basically people opposing him not because of his policies but because he's actually not fit even to be an MP let alone PM.

New poll in Germany puts Greens top in "federal" polling for the first time ever. SPD at an all time low of 12%.

I'm watching Sajid Javid on the Andrew Marr programme. He (Sajid Javid) insists that he doesn't want an extension but, reading between the lines he, should he become Prime Minister, would be relying on Parliament to force him into asking for one.

Also, the US Ambassador to the UK (whose name escapes me) was denying that any trade deal would be contingent upon food and agricultre being included - whilst, otherwise, every word he uttered implied that it would be.

I've been reading the work of Bentham, writing in the late eighteenth early nineteenth century. His 'industry houses' and 'pauper management' proposals are atrocious. He's often described as a social and political reformer and progressive. I think he was a fundamentally damaged person with no business in any position of authority.

People like Bentham are still around and in Tory government.
Current US leadership is terrifying.

I can't understand the mind and thoughts of someone capable of systematically, intentionally planning a society in which some human beings are born to do nothing but work in poor conditions, are kept ignorant, allowed only meager provisions and expected to provide profit to the private company incarcerating them.

Btw that 17% in last night's poll is the lowest Tory score ever (I mean since scientific opinion surveys started in the 1930s)

Normally a low Tory polling figure would be cause for celebration but given where that vote is going and the pressure it puts on the Tory government to Brexit no matter what it's a bit worrying in some ways, especially as it's going to make it even harder to force an early GE. May's deal wasn't ideal but it had the benefit of preventing no deal through the backstop agreement. The gamble MPs took by rejecting it was an assumption no Tory government would allow no deal if Parliament was opposed. I sincerely hope they're right.

Nothing is guaranteed, but it is still going to be a lot harder to do no deal than some are suggesting.

Walked up to Roundhay Park this afternoon and was just settling down to enjoy a bottle of wine in the early evening when Will fucking Young began playing.

I wouldn't have minded but he was murdering songs I like.

He did a horrible sort of swing version of Light my fire and most offensively some weird slowed down easy listening butt fucking of In between days.

There should be laws against that kind of thing.

I'm fine, I rent and I also have a tent. I can just up and leave in seconds when Farage becomes Prime Minister.

Ireland I would imagine, then Scotland after independence.

Either way I'm not staying in this shithole when it all goes to hell.
