Sloppy Portland mud about to arrive (6,5).

I'm particularly delighted here in Portsmouth. Can't wait for Thursday. Money well spent.PaulfromYorkshire wrote:Sloppy Portland mud about to arrive (6,5).

Good morfternoon.
Re: Monday 3rd June 2019
Good morning, everyone.
Re: Monday 3rd June 2019
Can we just recall the possibly not apocryphal story about a sign going up at the docks in Portsmouth and it taking the local council quite a while to realise that it said, in French, 'Welcome to Portsmouth, Gateway to Southampton'.PorFavor wrote:I'm particularly delighted here in Portsmouth. James Brokenshire seems to be trying to throw some hats out of the ring though.

Do UK football clubs typically have other nations' flags on trophies?

Re: Monday 3rd June 2019
It's a comment on Tottenham's reputation for having Jewish fans - there are certain religious and other stereotypes that go with clubs - so the 'Protestant Blue' is a stereotype for Glasgow Rangers, most famously, but holds true (as a stereotype) to an extent for Everton and Birmingham City (as against 'Catholic' Liverpool and Aston Villa) for example, or young black men and Arsenal. ("He had nothing to leave me, my da', but he left me three things, my religion, my politics and my football team. All true blue." The brilliant Ray Mcanally in the brilliant No Surrender.) They tend to be quite vague associations (other than the Rangers/Celtic one).citizenJA wrote:Do UK football clubs typically have other nations' flags on trophies?

There was a time when the "fans" of other London clubs in particular used to make hissing noises at Spurs followers, thankfully that has all but died out now.

Thank you.

Further to my earlier post citing Thursday as the day that Donald Trump is due in Portsmouth:
I thought that today was Tuesday, thus making Wednesday Thursday. Tuesday is actually tomorrow, so that what was once Thursday is now Wednesday. I trust that that's cleared up the situation. No further correspondence will be entered into on this subject.

Some silly people getting upset that Corbyn is attending the anti-Trump protest tomorrow.
I would have been amazed - and tbh disappointed - at anything else.

Its a fair point about McCain being lionised now, we were mostly pleased when Obama beat him in 2008 after all.
