We deeply value our armed forces that's why we sanction for non reason and deny the basics those that are sick and disabled.

I suspect that the responders are being lazy. If I was asked 'what's the best thing about Brexit - reclaiming our sovereignty or all of the exciting new trade deals' I would answer neither. I wonder if the tories in the poll are just saying 'Brexit' to everything because they don't believe that it will be bad for the economy, they don't believe it will be bad for the tory party or the union...

Johnson's plan isn't credible because it involves the EU agreeing to things they can't and won't. Old proposals having already been thrown out and unworkable.
[Simon Jack, the BBC’s business editor] also says that, although Johnson restated his commitment to leave the EU by 31 October with or without a deal, his audience were not convinced he meant it. Jack says:
"When asked whether he was prepared to leave with no deal on 31 October, he said that it was not his preferred option, we had to prepare for no-deal and if necessary go through with it. One attendee I spoke to felt that “his heart wasn’t in that comment”, another said, “the look in his eyes made you question whether he really meant that”."
Not much there inspiring any confidence in Johnson at all, to say the least. I'm in real despair with this lumbering failed government. The country has no leadership and without some Tory MPs willing to support a no confidence bid I don't see any legitimate mechanism available getting some.

Our healthcare and other public service systems aren't funded and maintained while current government are straight out of centuries-old, dysfunctional, autocratic and demented British history pages.

I've had to spend time away from news about current events. Tory leadership contests bore me regardless of circumstances but this one is particularly galling. The streaming of Tory party drama is frivolous noise.

Stewart not out of it (the final two anyway) then.

Raab's elimination not a complete surprise, by all accounts he was pretty poor in Sunday's debate.

Rory Stewart closing in on Michael Gove. The debate later might even prove to be interesting.

This is from a spokesman for Jeremy Hunt’s campaign.

This is a solid result. It shows a steady step forward, which is exactly what we were expecting. It confirms that Jeremy is the best placed candidate to take on Boris. He’s the only candidate who can unite the country, and the party by delivering Brexit.
Not sure that's true given what non-Tory voters seem to be saying about Rory Stewart.

Rory Stewart (undoubted Conservative though he is) is the only one in the contest who seems unprepared to give obeisance to Boris Johnson. In that respect, I hope he does well tonight.

I thought I'd give the debate a go, but Hunt has just come out with "we're the party of hope" so I turned off before I threw something at my monitor.

I hope they all bugger off.

OK, I have found a compromise; I'm watching it with the sound turned down following Ian Dunt's live blog on twitter. More amusing by far.

Apparently Michael Gove who was in the Cabinet when they approved an increase in VAT from 17.5% to 20% in 2011 is now concerned about the impact of VAT on the poorest.

Instead of Javid's "I was poor", Gove's "I was adopted", Hunt's "I was a businessman" and Johnson's "I was a Mayor" can we get to Stewart's "I killed a man and slept with his girlfriend on a yacht in Marrakech"

Funniest bit of tonight was Gove's macho finger-pointing at the end telling Corbyn to "get back in the dustbin of history where you belong!"

Sorry, that just made you look an idiot.

I may have this wrong, but it does appear to me that Hunt made millions by selling information that was freely available in a very clearly 'packaged' organised format in the public realm.

ETA - which I suppose is quite an entrepreneurial thing to do. 'Make me a pound where there wasn't a pound to be made'.
