Good morfternoon.
David Lammy

@DavidLammy

Jacob Rees-Mogg again conflating "our economy" with his investment firm "Somerset Capital." Maybe you are in for a huge personal “boost” if we crash out with no-deal, but all of our constituents will suffer terribly.

Yeah. I swallowed my gum reading that one. I'm hoping it's a harebrained idea scribbled down, thrown out in haste and not acted upon. That's what it is, right? Just cockamamie nonsense. It's not going to happen, is it?

If the government is willing to cough up money, why compensate mass slaughter? Why not cover feed costs to bridge the gap until exports improve again......oh. They're not going to get better again, are they?

What a sorry ass, dumb country we are. :wall:

Government defeated in Lords as peers vote to beef up anti-prorogation measure in Northern Ireland bill

The Anderson amendment has passed by 272 votes to 169 - a majority of 103.

This means the bill, as now amended, could make it illegal for the government to prorogue parliament in the autumn if the power-sharing executive in Northern Ireland has not been restored.

The government will almost certainly try to reverse this when the bill returns to the Commons tomorrow. Dominic Grieve only got his amendment passed by a single vote in the Commons last week, after a government whip forgot to vote, and Grieve lost votes on other related amendments, and so there must be a good chance of this afternoon’s vote being overturned (Politics Live, Guardian)

Oh no!

Andrea Camilleri: Inspector Montalbano author dies aged 93

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-48681253
No other mystery plots have narrated the Sicilian "gioia di vivere" (joy of life) so effectively and with such a colourful protagonist: a detective whose days involve morning swims, spaghetti with clams and an onslaught of hilarious malapropisms from an illiterate receptionist at the local police station.

Where else can you find a coroner with a secret passion for cannoli, the cream-filled tubes of Italian pastry.
