So we have

Patel - forced to resign after innapropriate meetings with foreign government
Williamson - sacked after a leak enquiry concerning security intelligence
Rudd -forced to resign over Windrush
Shapps - admitted working under a pseudonym after specifically denying it for three years
and Cummings - who is in contempt of Parliament

Feel free to add...

Edited to add - silly really, but an obvious mistake to make...

Johnson - fired from three different journalistic positions for lying.

Interesting thread on Johnson's possible intentions.

@syrpis
This may well be nonsense (it was ever thus...); but PM Johnson seems to have a plan. It gives me no pleasure to say this, but it will be difficult to stop. 1/

And in response

Phil
@DrSchwitters
Good (depressing) thread.

One small qualification: it's extraordinarily easy to stop. All that's needed is for the centre and centre-left to work with, and under the leadership of, the Left.

So yeah, we're screwed.

Morning all.

How can Jo Johnson accept a job in a no-deal government when he resigned to fight for a second referendum?

Family unity counts for more than principles I guess...

For all the madness in the tory party, you still can't beat the DUP.

Nigel Dodds this am, priorities for continuing the pact - 'strengthen the union' and 'deliver Brexit'.

They will support the government. Until they don't.

It has ever been thus.

You might think one of our political "journalists" might ask him about that, if he still wants another referendum in particular?

Well this is actually quite sensible. From AS.
Boris Johnson drops target for getting annual net migration below 100,000
The new government has abandoned the target of getting annual net migration below 100,000. This was set as a goal by David Cameron, and maintained by Theresa May, but their governments never came close to meeting it.
I get why May couldn't drop it since she was Home Secretary before becoming PM but it's been a nonsense for years.

I wonder how long it'll take to find out that she's basically useless and simply parrots the "lower spending! cut taxes!" line all the time?

Still, at least if she's in No 10 she won't be on QT or similar. Always look on the bright side...

There is a way of changing it back but it only lasts until your next session - and sometimes not even until then.

If like me you don't like the #NewTwitter, this is how you can restore the #OldTwitter interface:
1. "More"
2. "Settings and Privacy"
3. "About Twitter"
4. "Directory"
5. "Home" tab

When it gets to Directory, I bookmarked it so only have to click Home.

But of course you may already know this...

If you're using Firefox or Chrome, there's an add-on that forces the old version. It's not compatible with IE, so it makes Twitter think you're using that.

Hannah Parkinson on the new cabinet in the graun.
I’m not saying this is a good practice – because it isn’t – but you know how schools scheme to get all their lowest achieving students kicked out so that their table position isn’t affected? This would be the lot that you’d round up and drive off the premises without even opening the gates.

And unfortunately we are now facing hell.

I listened to the shrill fantasist fool and was reminded of myself as a child with my friend Billy Clegg. Me and Billy were convinced by superhero comics and that kind of hippy bollocks that we could fly if only we believed strongly enough. We started with small garden walls and worked our way up to shed roofs until we reached the garage roof at the end of the road.

It was a basic council garage big enough to fit a big van.

And we threw ourselves off it.

He fractured his arm and later my Dad told me he was dead when he wasn't.

My point being somewhat fucking obvious.
