I'll sum up for you.

Boris Johnson is determined to have his own way, Philip Hammond is a broken reed, and the DUP is preparing their invoice.
I told everyone, "vote Labour", during the 2015 GE campaign.

The outrageous gets a kind of publicity unhelpful for regular people.
The comparison is unhelpful in the context it was made.

I haven't heard anything from Rory Stewart.

He's wandering in a field trying to get a mobile phone signal.

[Conservative MP Dominic] Grieve said he and colleagues working to stop no deal would be working tirelessly before parliament returned on 3 September on a plan to show their unhappiness with prorogation. He also said Johnson was aware that parliament as a whole had no desire for a suspension during the conference recess period.

“We are in the middle of a national crisis. The prime minister knows very well that the Commons was resolved not to break for the conference recess. Normal prorogation is five, six days at most and his decision to go around and do this shows his reckless disregard for the way the UK functions. It is certainly not illegal but it’s constitutionally wrong.”
(cJA emphasis)
If it's constitutionally wrong, it's illegal, Grieve.

Evening all. I seem to have missed all the fun...

This looks to be essential reading.

Very good.

When the High Court rejected one of the attempts to overturn the referendum result, they did so in part on the basis that as it was an advisory referendum, parliament had reserved the power to see the process through to themselves. From the judgement-
And, I repeat, the fact that Parliament has maintained control over withdrawal makes it patently inappropriate for the court to intervene.
What Johnson has done today is generally outrageous, but this also makes it specifically outrageous.

The only real course of action at this point is to bring the government down.

And the only real hope of avoiding no deal is now the rather unlikely caretaker government scenario to ask the EU for an extension to article 50 in order to hold an election. Which Labour then have to win. A tall order. I said back in March MPs may come to regret not voting through May's WA. I think some of them have said as much already.
Not quite so pointless as you thought?

I could do with a shot of John McDonnell. It might make me feel a bit better.

Complaining about protocol hasn't exactly stopped him, has it?

Grieve, Hammond et al are very good at complaining but until a big enough chunk of Tory rebels actually do something the situation is pretty hopeless really.

Perhaps you are right Willow but it feels like there is something building. I don't think it's pointless.

But you are often right!
