Happy Birthday AK!

This was on the front of the Sunday Times this morning.

Boris Johnson urged to justify 'awarding public funds to close friend'

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/20 ... fer-arcuri
The report also suggests that Arcuri was initially refused permission to attend two of the trade mission trips because her business did not meet the eligibility criteria. But after the intervention of Johnson she was allowed on to the missions, according to an email seen by the paper.

It points out that Johnson was bound by a Greater London Authority code of conduct to declare any private interests. He was also banned from providing undue benefits to friends.
If they need someone to do a forensic audit, I hear that Patience Wheatcroft can do a job...

It would appear congratulations are in order for a certain Mr Kasparov in celebration of his surviving another trip round the sun stuck to the surface of ball of various minerals and chemical compounds, the surface of which is infested by idiots.

One hopes a party occured involving cocktail sticks skewering alternating slices of cold hot dog and cubes of cheese.

Been out for the day just catching up here...

I see Mr Corbyn seems to have used shenanigans to move the fence rather than his own useless bony arse.

Gotta love his love for the democratic will of the Labour party members whom he and his supporters always use the support of to justify themselves but circumvent using arcane procedures the moment that support is less than forthcoming.

There are words for that kind of behaviour and none of them reflect favourably on the those they are used to describe.

A story from today.

In shops. Huge punky bloke calls to his young daughter. I smile. He looks and smiles at me and I explain that his daughter shares a name with my eldest little one,but that my eldest little one had just gone back today for her last year at university. He says "You need this" and hugs me.

I would have hoped the daughter, with a glint in her eye never seen before by her father said "Your sickeningly cute dad love in, born of all you both have lost, is nothing more than inadequate compenstion for the life of a free male. A life of drink, drugs, not a great deal of money, going out to the pub with other single men, computer games and learning to cook."

The problem with being single in your forties is you can never envisage giving up your independence to anyone ever again.

Whether you like it or not.

Interesting that the Mail is running with the story about the PM and chucking money at some bit of fluff who is not actually that great at running companies.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/articl ... -firm.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

But this is even more interesting.
That financial situation has been eased, somewhat, by the DCMS, who last January agreed to pay it £100,000 from a fund designed to train people in the UK in cyber-security.

That six-figure grant is, however, now to be the subject of a formal investigation on the grounds that both Arcuri and Hickey have since last summer been living and working from a $960,000 home in Huntingdon Beach, California.

That appears to put them in breach of the terms of the DCMS grant, which is limited to firms that are ‘based and operate’ in the UK.

Indeed, Hacker House’s official registered address turns out to be a private home in Prestbury, Cheshire, which the couple rented before moving back to America, and no longer have any connection with – itself a breach of the Companies Act.

With this in mind, the DCMS yesterday launched a formal investigation into how the six-figure sum was given to the company.
