Awful lot of hand-wringing for the man who forced a cancer sufferer back into work, threatened to misuse member’s personal data, organised his own purge of Labour members back in 2016 and hasn’t attended an NEC meeting since March.PaulfromYorkshire wrote:Mown stoat, reconstituted, may soon be redundant (3,6).

I think Corbyn should just say OK Tom you want to stay. This is what being Deputy looks like and you haven't been doing it. See you at the next NEC and Shadow Cabinet where I look forward to actually doing your job. Or resign.

Revealed: Arron Banks puts controversial diamond mine up for sale
https://www.channel4.com/news/revealed- ... p-for-sale
In a statement Mr Banks told Channel 4 News:
“Newlands diamond mine was placed in care and maintenance 12 months ago and is up for sale for R10 million (approx. £540k).”
Mr Banks has consistently claimed that the mines were productive and profitable.
A 2014 valuation report commissioned by Mr Banks for investors valued his diamond mines at $79m.
The report also claimed that the Newlands mine could generate “an annual average net profit of $7m over the mine’s 13 year life.” Mr Banks told Channel 4 News in 2018 that his South African mines were worth a combined $100m.

Hard to overstate how damaging (to him, at least) his clod-hopping intervention on Brexit the other week was.
Even some long standing supporters lost patience with him.

On the subject of a free press, I was shocked, shocked to see Spiked defend the stuff that came out about ben Stokes' family!
Yeah, well, the NZ newspapers reported on it at the time...that would have been journalism.

Fourty plus years of matey chats with fascists and making atrocious fact free "documentaries" about the welfare system was indeed indicative of liberal bias.

Some people 'work all their lives"get minimal back at best because they fucking don't get ill/disabled according to a deemed convenient script.

Re: Saturday 21st & Sunday 22nd August 2019
Our prospective Labour candidate for North East Somerset has just been selected and he's not very promising, I'm afraid. An ex-journalist, he has a slick PR type of feel to him and appears to live in the Cotswolds where he previously stood for Labour in 2017, so is on the wrong side of the 'doughnut' that is the NE Somerset constituency from the bulk of Labour voters. He's better than the gay American from London who stood in 2015, but I'm not sure he'll be able to improve on the local councillor who stood at short notice in 2017 who actually faired pretty well, especially as we will have Dr Phil Hammond off the telly standing for the NHA Party this time.

Would be surprised if Hammond saved his deposit tbh, but always interesting to see a local perspective on these things.

Re: Saturday 21st & Sunday 22nd August 2019
He works as a consultant at the RUH in Bath, so he's not just a celebrity, he's a proper local which can make quite a difference here in Somerset. Having local ties helped Rees-Mogg, as well as our last Labour candidate. Having said that, I've no real idea how he'll do, I just know he's a genuinely lovely guy, a committed doctor and passionate about the NHS. He deserves to do well. Mostly I'm just hoping he'll land a few punches on Rees-Mogg in the process. He could do with being taken down a peg or two.AnatolyKasparov wrote:Would be surprised if Hammond saved his deposit tbh, but always interesting to see a local perspective on these things.
