Don't worry JA. LauraK will explain to us all how despite not being in the same arrangement, it actually is. And we'll all live happily ever after.

Just having a peruse of the QT panel for tonight and I'm fairly confident in my prediciton that the Brexit Party MEP Martin Daubney, former editor of Loaded magazine, who organised a 'straight pride' march in London is going to be a total dickscab.

I would estimate this leaves a chance of around 0.000005% that Martin could be a total delight.

Let's see if he takes that chance.

Labour didn't do particularly badly but were presumably affected by a Green on the scene. Whereas Tories picked up votes from UKIP and a former Ind.

But I guess that's exactly what Cummings wants.

Just have to hope the shine has worn off Johnson by Sunday!

It should be difficult to believe that Conservative & Unionist MPs would vote for something which effectively keeps NI tied to the EU for 4 years initially and possibly forever but then these are strange times.

Yes. Is it legal placing NI in a different arrangement from the rest of the UK?
A question that the Scottish Courts have been asked:
Section 55 of the Taxation (Cross-border Trade) Act 2018 prevents Northern Ireland from having different customs rules than the rest of the UK.
The clause titled 'Single United Kingdom customs territory' states: "It shall be unlawful for Her Majesty's Government to enter into arrangements under which Northern Ireland forms part of a separate customs territory to Great Britain."
... The challenge is due to heard at 10am in the Outer House of the Court of Session before Lord Pentland.

Question Time report from Leicester, which should take pride in the most civil, balanced, mostly loony free audience we've had in a while.

For the Tories we had Matt 'Amoeba' Hancock. Matt is capable of changing shape to take advantage of whichever way his pseudopods tell him the political wind is blowing. This evening the form he took was of a comical yet disturbing dead eyed, blank faced defender of a brexit deal which only 2 people in the audience were willing to put their hands up to support. At one point while attempting to defend spending on hospitals he appeared to briefly lose control of his human form and began gesticulating wildly while making incoherent noises much to the amusement of onlookers. Presumably at night Matt sleeps in a bucket like Odo from Deep Space 9.

For Labour we had Anneliese Dodds. Annelise apparently has a reputation for being somewhat bland. Well you know what? I liked her a lot. She seemed honest, smart and straightforward. There were no glib rehearsed party line phrases being trotted out, everything she said seemed to come straight from her and sadly that's an increasingly rare thing for Labour shadow ministers these days. If ever I was going to share some vegan wine with someone after a yoga class it would be with Annelise. She of course would have been doing the yoga, not me. And she could buy the wine on expenses now that I think about it.

For the charity sector we had Javed Khan, chief executive of Barnardo's. Given the ban on being even remotely political the Tories placed on charities Javed sailed pretty close to the wind tonight by openly advocating a second referendum. He also expressed dissatisfaction at people being racist dicks in our soceity and that it only took a slight scratch of the surface to see some pretty ugly things underneath.

And talking of which for the Brexit Party Ltd we had Martin Daubney MEP, Martin was the longest running editor for Loaded magazine, that sad bible for 90's lad culture which never had the guts to be actual porn. He seemed to think his route to victory tonight was talking over women. I mean you'd have thought someone would have told him, "Martin people are going to expect you to be a misogynistic prick so maybe try not to be and confound their expectations." But no he went for it until he got told to stop not just by the panel but the audience. This isn't the 90's anymore you pathetic fucking wanker.

And finally for the SNP we had Philippa Whitford who I'd never seen before and she was the star of the show. A lot of SNP panelists make the mistake in front of an English audience of playing to a Scottish gallery that isn't there. Philippa did a wee bit of that but mostly just called Boris Johnson and Nigel Farage out for their racism, pointed out this deal was shit for everybody, explained clearly why we hadn't had a general election yet and batted off that idiot above's attempts to talk over her as if he were some feeble English midge which are obviously far less hard than the Scottish midges she's used to dealing with.

Ok so I'm not going to be around tomorrow or Saturday because Leeds is having a Goth festival I feel I have to add my support to by watching mostly shit bands and cabaret while getting drunk enough for it not to be awful.

So going on what we know now I predict that Johnson's deal will pass by around 10 votes, I predict almost the entirety of the ERG will vote for it along with about 2/3 of the Tory 'rebels' and the balance will be tipped in Johnson's favour by Labour leave MPs.

Hearteningly I am quite frequently wrong.

Let's hope so this time eh kiddies?
