Something about chucking your offspring to the care of the State/others from nine months old and an extreme intolerant writing about intolerance in the Torygraph or something

Tory Islamophobia row: Warsi accuses Hancock of 'whitesplaining'

https://www.theguardian.com/news/2019/n ... late-warsi
Challenged on Warsi’s strident criticism of her own party’s record on discrimination against Muslims, Hancock said: “Well look, I like Sayeeda. She has a particular view on this, there are others who take a more balanced approach.”

Asked if he was saying she was “unbalanced”, Hancock replied: “No, I’m certainly not saying that. I have an enormous amount of respect for Sayeeda but she does take a particular view.”

Hours later, Warsi tweeted: “Oh [Matt Hancock]. Thank you for ‘whitesplaining’ this to me. I’m so glad I have colleagues like you who can educate me even after my 30 years of experience of work in race relations.

“Thousand apologies sir.”
I'm assuming that Ian Austin's new anti-racist organisation will be campaigning on this as well as taking pot shots at Labour all the time. No? Oh.

A Libdem proposal I believe?

The last Labour government introduced a couple of days of free nursery school for all 3 and 4 year olds as evidence showed that children who attended nursery were further ahead already by the time they started school. It had nothing to do with childcare and getting people back to work. It was about child development and it was a great idea, which helped all families, including those with a stay at home parent.

I've nothing against women who prefer to return to work and I'm not against some help from government to offset the cost of childcare, but some mums, or dads, would actually prefer to stay at home and look after their children themselves, so it frustrates me that so many policies for families are so exclusively focused on getting parents back to work, rather than looking at the broader picture.

Presumably ,a more "balanced" view is being equivocal about racism to the point of ignoring it.

Of course it's not the evening, but I'm not one for letting reality get in the way of a good story.
Seems I'm not alone these days.

Sixth form pupils confined to room during Boris Johnson school visit

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/h ... 96231.html
As the Tory leader met teachers and specially selected younger pupils, the older teens – who may have been keen to discuss education cuts and tuition fees – said they were ordered not to leave rooms where they were held for the duration of the visit.

“We were told it was for security reasons,” 17-year-old Robbie Szymanski told The Independent.

“But it’s a pretty cowardly thing to do if you ask me. You’re at our school, Boris: come and see what we think of you.”

Lessons were held up because the youngsters were not allowed to move round the site. Some students, who should have had free periods, reported not being allowed to leave the building or go home.
:D

I understand life isn't like how it was some decades ago. I understand caution is wise. Johnson doesn't have to visit schools and he'd no business being there if his doing so created security problems. Children kept inside classrooms and not allowed out during the duration of his visit to their school sounds like an account of life inside a dictatorial regime.

In the 2017 campaign he walked right in front of me, just after May had driven past me.

Hello everyone.

For those worried about the thieving Corbyn/Mcdonnel tax plans (no-one here I suspect).

A simple page where you enter gross salary and it tells you how much extra tax you will pay under Labour's plans. If any. I won't. My boss's boss might. My boss's boss's boss will.

https://calculate.forlabour.com/

Something to share, I think.
