Morning/night

Did I after a couple of hours kip,get up have a shower and get ready for avoiding work despite it being a Saturday and I work nights?I go to and from in the dark is my excuse but of course it is the Tories fault;as it always is.

In all the fucking Tories thing we mustn't forget /reconstruct a mythical past ,not least because there were reasons as to why things changed ,such halycon days reconstruction before "X" stuff can be equally pernicious,no matter what X you choose.IMHO.

For 20 years, arguments about funding have obscured the deeper questions of what kind of future we want for ourselves and our loved ones, in a civilised society. We should be giving humans a sense of purpose and friendship, not reducing them to bodies to be washed and dressed."

Well said Cam Cavendish in the FT(re social care in particular but equally could be more generally applied.)

Morning all.

I had the misfortune to hear Gove on R4 this morning.

Apparently the reason they missed their manifesto target for tree planting was all the fault of the EU. The interviewer sounded a little doubtful about this but Gove insisted we could plant more trees when we leave because of the CAP.

And then, when quizzed about whether anyone in his party had offered Ann Widecombe a role in the post-Brexit negotiations and the fact that it's now been referred to the police, Gove offered in the party's defence - "Well, I haven't spoken to Ann" at which point the interviewer said "I didn't ask you that".

And Prince Andrew? "I';m not going to answer any questions about him".

Woeful.

Good morfternoon.
The police are assessing two allegations of electoral fraud after claims the Tories offered peerages to senior Brexit party figures to persuade them to stand down in the general election.

The Labour peer Lord Falconer has written to the Metropolitan police commissioner and director of public prosecutions calling for an investigation into what he said were “exceptionally serious allegations”.

Falconer said these allegations should be investigated as a matter of urgency in order to maintain public confidence in the integrity of the election. (Politics Live, Guardian)

Bet it won't be reported what happened before the election...

But if it is then it's a Win-Win - either Farage and Widecombe proved to be liars or No 10 guilty of an offence.

"The GE is all about Brexit"

There is absolutely nothing self engendering by repeatedly saying that,in any way.
Probably not the correct phrase ,but you get the drift(hopefully).Somewhat arrogant to deny/ignore the import of other issues/concerns to many/so deign, some would suggest

Sky's coverage isn't so bad, but their catch-all headline is "THE BREXIT ELECTION". Even if they just added a question mark that would be better.

Seems that even those I had formerly had down as "thoughtful" Conservatives (and ex-Conservatives) have gone loopy. Even Rory Stewart and his "minor gangsters" comment. I wasn't surprised that he thought it but was amazed that he was stupid enough to say it out loud, as it were.
