Disappointed to see no QT review from Sky, his views on the tosser who thinks half the population earn more than £80k would have been notable.
It was a shame it was Burgon there, imo others would have been able to make capital out of it.
Bruce was pathetic and the BBC put out the clip without a strong indication that he was talking rubbish.

Tory candidate got illegal dividend from firm that went bust

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/20 ... -went-bust
A Conservative parliamentary candidate who has been praised by Boris Johnson is facing questions over why he received an illegal dividend from a security firm that went into administration owing £271,000 in tax.

Stuart Anderson, who is trying to overturn a Labour majority of 2,185 in Wolverhampton South West, was a director and major shareholder of Anubis Associates for eight years until 2013 when the firm collapsed.

The firm, which trained security guards, was wound up by administrators who noted that Anderson had received more than £54,000 in unlawful dividends. He later repaid £2,000.

@cja

Thanks for that link about Fiona Hill yesterday, I hadn't heard her before so I found a clip so I could listen to her, 'the same region as George Washington's ancestors' has people with quite a few different accents.

She didn't sound like a Geordie or a Mackem so I investigated further, she's from Bishop Auckland. 8-)

My brother's been in the US since 1973 and still has a Yorkshire accent.

I don't doubt that Hill had the same experience he did, Americans having no idea where they were from.

On that note, I saw that that whiny know-nothing Kate Andrews has moved from the IEA to The Spectator as their economics correspondent - something she seems to have no qualification for whatsoever.

And who was giving their fulsome congratulations on this move but that well-known "lefty" Claire Fox and another of the Spiked crew Gareth Sturdy.

The first thing, then, is to accept that the problem exists and has been terribly mishandled. Jewish Labour members (and members of parliament) have been made to feel unwelcome, while too many bigots and bullies have escaped discipline.

Am starting to vividly recall the 1997 and 2010 GEs. So much jubilation after the former; desperate optimism right to the end for that latter. And then Nick we'll-never-do-a-deal-with-the-Tories Clegg. Even so, I was still proud of us as an essentially OK multi-nation in (London) 2012. Why - I used to think Italy was weird voting in Berlusconi.

It felt very disjointed to me. Some very obscure questions at the start didn't really give much opportunity to get into campaign mode. I can't really think of any memorable points, though on the plus side that does mean no memorable gaffes either.

Oh look there's that "give an example of non sequitur" again...

Make the Civil Service more accountable to the public – we would require civil servants to sign an oath to act with political neutrality.

Not sure how that second bit would work given that the civil service generally carry out policy as directed by the government - what is he suggesting, that they could say "Sorry, that policy is too right/left wing so I'm refusing to carry it out"?

No experience, that's the problem. Ed Davey had served as a minister, so might have been a better choice. I have seen Swinson come across quite well in the past but not much sign of that now. She seems to be playing a role rather than being herself.

What Johnson has claimed about the ‘living wage’ in London is completely untrue. He did not ‘bring it in’ and it was not the model for what the government now calls the ‘living wage’. London Living Wage is voluntary higher rate which London Mayors do not even set. Liar. #bbcqt

Johnson came very close to calling Dominic Grieve a liar.

He also struggled visibly when dealing with a question from a woman dependent on benefits. The honest answer - we don't plan to anything to keep you on the right side of a foodbank - was sidestepped with a rather creepy offer to speak to her privately afterward to see what could be done for her. And everyone else due to go over to UC with a 5 week gap?...

Nice point from audience member that the many previous Tory promises of extra NHS cash have never actually materialised at the sharp end.

Johnson didn't appear to refute the NHS had been underfunded but I'm guessing we won't be seeing that clip in the round up.

Sturgeon has the confidence of a very long seasoned and skilled political leader, but also of somebody who knows they're going to win their election, but won't then have the responsibility of power that normally comes with that. It's like Farage at the Euro elections.
