Adam Boulton was talking about the YouGov MRP poll to someone who said that if it had been completed on Monday am instead of Tuesday, it would have shown a 50 seat tory lead instead of 28, such was the narrowing of the polls.

Andy Stewart, the Brexit party candidate in Doncaster, is speaking at the moment, claiming that leave supports are the victims of a form of “racism of opinion”, because people are discriminating against them for what they think. (Politics Live, Guardian - my bold)

Unfortunately confirms what I raised the other day:
Both Labour and the Lib Dems’ policies will leave poorest people 10% better off, and reverse post-2015 welfare spending cuts, says the Resolution Foundation. It adds that while both will halt upward trends on child poverty, there will be no “substantial reduction” in overall levels.

Theresa May seems competent, dignified and almost compassionate in comparison to our current PM.

And people are saying they are going to vote for him because they like him. Regardless of the outcome, the fact that 40% of the voting population think Boris Johnson is fit for public office is a national embarrassment that England is going to take a long time to recover from.

Has anyone else seen the clip of Laura Kuennsberg on Politics Live saying the postal votes look dire for Labour? She makes it sound like she actually knows how people have voted, even though they won't be counted until tomorrow. If she has some insights on turnout - high turnout = good for the Tories, or whatever - she should just say that, not assert Labour are doing badly before a single vote has been counted. Unbelievably unprofessional.

There are always postal vote rumours - even though strictly speaking speculating on them is illegal.

But they are concentrated among older voters - who as we all know are more likely than not to vote Tory these days. One possible counter rumour I haven't seen given much coverage is that postal vote "turnouts" are clearly down on 2017 - if true, then given the above it might not be all good news for the blue team.

Raab was blurting stuff about postal votes last week, Laura K's probably got no more than that.
Any hope she might finally get herself fired, or at least suspended?

They can be opened before polling day but are supposed to be kept face down and counted with the rest after closing.

Of course parties can contact people known to have a postal vote and ask them how they voted, but that would seem a bit pointless.

There's a difference between reporting something vague like the Tories are feeling confident as the postal votes start coming in and implying everyone and his cat have seen the postal votes and it's a fact Labour are toast. She's either shit at being an impartial political correspondent or very good at being a Tory propagandist as the subsequent furore over her poor choice of words has knocked "fridge gate" down the twitter charts and skewered Labour’s wave of positive momentum.

So, not wanting to take twitter at face value, I took the trouble of going on the BBC iPlayer earlier to watch Laura Keunnsberg on Politics Live to see what she actually said for myself. Something others will now not be able to do because today's Politics Live is no longer available on the iPlayer.

I know postal vote rumours are often reported in a roundabout way but it does seem Keunnsberg may have crossed a line. In particular I do wonder if her assertions can be stood up. As AK says, if turnout was relatively low, surely Labour people would still be hanging on to some hope, not telling journalists it's all over, however happy the Tories may be with their own progress.

Edited to remove my (probably inaccurate) quote in case Kuennsberg did actually break electoral laws and repeating her words in print could also therefore be an offence.

Constant demoralisation messaging is a tactic Tories and their supporters have used throughout this election. Tory leadership have produced austerity, bad legislation, expensive disasters the public will pay for. They've achieved nothing they've pledged to do for regular people.
