Last night/early this morning dissipation here on yesterday's thread is noted. My web browser nearly got taken out thanking multiple posts with video-sharing platform links.

If I were as gifted and skilled a writer as Willow904, I'd have written this one from yesterday. I attempted something related to it the other day. It's regarding recommended strategy for Labour.

Wake up people ? I was up seven hours ago, lit the stove and cooked breakfast, fed the cat, and went back to ZZZZ ! I also read the US news . :-)
cJA :
Most important is effectively countering a media image created and imposed on any Labour leader and the Labour party by interests hostile to a Labour government. The Tory party isn't protecting the interests of most people they've been elected to represent. People need clarity about the who's in charge and have been for the last decade. Labour must make the realities of harmful Tory legislation vividly clear and unequivocal. Find Tory party weaknesses, find where they've the least defence, get in there and effectively take them down in the eyes and minds of the general public. Clear, simple, relevant, consistent messages distilled from good Labour policies juxtaposed to demonstrably damaging Tory policy and legislation can win Labour the hearts and minds of people. Labour must be the party people like, identify with and believe their best interests are protects by Labour.
I watched a recent bbc interview of a shopkeeper in smalltown Iowa who believed that Trump was "good for the economy "... and then thought of a recent graph of economic growth which showed Trump just continuing the Obama upward years ! PLUS the fact that his tax cuts have added to the deficit for everybody.
Being VERY clear about the Simple Lies used by the GOP/Tories is a first step ! Labour being responsible for the GFC is a Tory one which the bastards are still using, and Miliband let them get away with it IIRC . Never let them get away with that sort of shit. Hit and keep on hitting.
(I'll leave the antisemitism thing for now, but I do think there was far too much passive appeasement.)

Coffee!

Good morfternoon.
Jeremy Corbyn favours Ed Miliband, the former Labour leader and former energy secretary, as a candidate to chair the COP 26 climate change summit, HuffPost’s Paul Waugh reports. (Politics Live, Guardian)

‘Levelling up’ is a semantic sleight of hand to let the Tories off the hook
Political jargon is primarily about artifice, about projecting a certain image of the party and of the politician speaking. In this case, Conservative politicians can sidestep the thorny issue of gaping economic inequalities. “Levelling up” implies improvements for the needy without any redistribution of wealth or opportunity from the wealthiest. This, by definition, is impossible.

If only RLB hadn't made that silly 10/10 comment about Corbyn, she would be much better placed to win the Labour leadership race now.

As they say, discuss......

Given the way he talked and acted when in the role I'm not sure Jeremy Hunt actually realised he was in charge of or responsible for the NHS when he was health minister, so who knows. Maybe he'll be more critical than we expect, not realising he's criticising himself.

The Health & Social Care Act 2012 went from the health minister having a duty providing a comprehensive health service to duty promoting one. He might've thought it left him freer using the NHS for fiscal speculation purposes.

Though its not new, being a favourite in the Thatcherite 80s as well.

Well known they aren't best pals, but Romney's voting in the Senate has been very loyal until now - so still a bit of a surprise.

People's PMQs - Snap verdict
Boris Johnson has many faults, but he is not stupid. He is also an accomplished performer who, like most good performers, can tell when he is losing his audience. By the end of this session he looked like someone finding it increasingly hard to pretend that what he was doing was anything other than utterly pointless.

And he was right; it was.

Also from the G.
Labour’s Lilian Greenwood asks about a constituent who starved to death when the DWP stopped his benefits. How many more vulnerable claimants will have to die before the government values their cases?

Johnson says this is a tragic case. He says the DWP has allocated millions of pounds to improve the way it handles these vulnerable cases.
Putting millions of pounds into increasing people's actual benefits would be out of the question. :fire:
