Continuing where you left off?
A brand new page?
A brand new chapter?
Is the end foreseen and inevitable?
A continuation of self-destruction ?
Will the repeated evidential corrupt continue their parasitical ways?
Is the Party over?

The Labour leadership contest has erupted into a bitter row after the frontrunner’s campaign team were forced to vehemently deny claims they had hacked into party membership data.

Keir Starmer campaign denies hacking claim in Labour leadership row

Team say inquiry only began after it raised concerns about data use of rival Rebecca Long-Bailey

The row began after Labour officials wrote to two members of Starmer’s team accusing them of effectively hacking into the party’s membership database. The complaint has been referred to the Information Commissioner’s Office.

Within days of the referral being made on Thursday, news of the process was passed to the BBC. The BBC declined to say who had passed on the information. (Guardian)

I don't understand. How can Labour party team members looking at Labour party membership information be considered, "hacking"?

"Chapman said events began when Long-Bailey’s campaign sent an email to thousands of supporters that included a link to a database of potential backers who could be contacted.

This link appeared to access the Labour party phone bank of contacts, which contravened leadership rules"

For some reason, my brain genuinely mixes up Dominic Cummings with Seumas Milne. Whenever I think of either one of them the mental photo' can be quite random, even though they don't look at all similar.

Can't think why that slipped out . . .

Another good one by Ian Dunt, on the Johnson’s Newspeak , and I like this comment too —
” One small chink of light in the darkness. Thatcher never persuaded the public to call it the “community charge”; they always called it the “poll tax”.

(She actually slipped up once in a speech in the Commons and called it the “poll tax”.) ”

SO …. the UK Foreign Office staff are no longer allowed to say or write brexit, unless discussing Ancient History ?

I can just imagine forrin diplomats taking a wicked pleasure in using exactly that Forbidden Word when conversing with FCO victims of the Johnson régime , and by the by — what happens to said diplomats when they break the new Rule ? Will the Dom have spies to report to him, as was rumoured about the Westminster restaurants ?

Of course PMQ’s and parliament in general, TV and radio, SHOULD provide plenty of opportunities to keep brexit in the public ear … a drumbeat reminder of who owns the bloody thing.

A close friend and adviser of Jeremy Corbyn has revealed how a “corridor cabal” of his top aides sabotaged Labour’s election campaign, blaming them for the party’s catastrophic defeat.

The explosive post-mortem heaps responsibility on the key allies – director of communications, Seumas Milne; chief of staff, Karie Murphy; and Andrew Murray, a veteran communist – for organisational chaos and for “suffocating” the leader himself.

It carries huge weight because it was written by left-winger Alan Simpson, a former Socialist Campaign Group MP and flatmate of Mr Corbyn, who returned to frontline politics to advise him on sustainable economics.

It also follows an internal report that was widely ridiculed for excusing Mr Corbyn and claiming his Brexit policy, backing a new referendum, played the “decisive role” in handing Boris Johnson victory.

In stark contrast, Mr Simpson accuses the leader’s closest aides of “catastrophic misjudgement and ill-focused organisation” and an “obsession” with controlling both the leader and his message.

“Jeremy will inevitably carry much of the blame,” reads Mr Simpson’s submission to an independent review into the election disaster.

“But Labour’s deeper problems lie more in the cadre of senior advisers surrounding Corbyn. None should be allowed within a million miles of Labour’s rebuilding.

“People who’d never negotiated anything more than an extended tea-break were left in charge of the policy sifting process.”

When anyone uses "effectively" it usually means "It doesn't say this but I'm putting my own spin on it"...

Sinn Fein have won the most first preferences in Ireland's GE, with the governing Fine Gael in third place.

Irish Labour's worst ever election in both seats and vote terms. Btw they are about as far from Corbynism as it is possible for a nominally "left" party to get.

Sorry what were we talking about?

Let's see Froggy has already posted the article I was going to offer.

A sorry tale of idealogues and incompetence.

Any form of extreme political views attracts cranks and weirdos, Labour's last manifesto was an unholy mess made of mostly mainstream policies thrown out like left wing confetti.

If there's one thing the Left needs to win it's trust.

Saw her and her Blue Moon Orchestra live at the Guildhall. My friend and I (different friend from the Chichester toilets) were early arrivals and, in fact, we thought we were going to be the only arrivals. We were very near the front and Nanci Griffith chatted about having been to "your Tesco". Anyway, the place filled up to capacity.
