It's desperate, isn't it. 3 old white men competing to be POTUS and the only one of them who can actually string a sentence together is practically out of the race.

US electorate maybe too sophisticated, won't vote for Warren because they think others won't vote for Warren.

I hope the govt haven't made a terrible mistake letting Cheltenham go ahead, you would think statistically there'll be at least a couple of infected people in the crowd. It's not like a football match, people are moving about all the time, and wads of cash changing hands. Ireland should be concerned too.

Good luck with tracing contacts if anyone does get ill.

I think it speaks volumes about this government that the first drastic measure in response to coronavirus is designed to protect business from the effects of people getting ill rather than to protect people from the virus.

Maybe if the UK posted bridge heights in metric as well as imperial, they might mean something to people under the age of 50 and from elsewhere in Europe. Just a thought.

It remains the case that the Democratic establishment could have thrown their weight behind Warren, had they been so minded.

Too many of them did not want to.

"" Downing Street sources said Boris Johnson has no symptoms of coronavirus “so there is no need for a test”. ""

So Number Ten is as much against 'science' as Trump !

I thought everyone knew by now that the average time between infection and symptoms appearing is Five Days ?

There seems to be conflicting advice, with a Labour MP being told by 111 to self-isolate despite no symptoms because of contact with a confirmed case, but Johnson informed (by whom, exactly?) there was no need.

Meanwhile, those with symptoms but no confirmed contact can't get tested. I understand this to a degree, given the vague symptoms, but someone with a cough and fever were told to go to work like normal. Even if they don't have coronavirus, they could still have the flu and shouldn't be spreading that around either.

It's all very hit and miss.

Both of them are in the higher risk age group for this virus, hope they don't have cause to regret attending today.

It SOUNDS as tho the UK is desperately short of kits , or is the government plain stupid ?

The case hospitalised here in Caen on Sunday resulted in a cluster of FIVE tested and confirmed more cases by midnight on Monday .

Apparently people are at their most infectious BEFORE symptoms show !

And that is how you 'flatten the curve' to put the least possible pressure on an emergency system which is already stretched to breaking-point .

Another corrective to all the overnight spin. Yes there will be £640bn in infrastructure spending. But that is a gross figure. Net it is £460bn.
More importantly, the actual NEW money is about £91bn.
According to Paul Waugh most of Johnson's infrastructure spending is actually May's infrastructure spending.

The FTSE 100 has closed down 83 points, or 1.4%, at 5876, after another torrid day.

That, I calculate, means it has lost 20% of its value since the current slump began two and a half weeks ago.

Shared ownership Right to Buy likely to be applied to all rented homes funded under £12bn programme

Housing association homes built for rent under the government’s new Affordable Homes Programme look set to be automatically made available to tenants as shared ownership properties.
Sector figures have been briefed by the Treasury that the government is looking to put conditions on funding from Homes England and the Greater London Authority that will ensure homes built for both affordable and social rent tenures will give tenants the option to own through shared ownership.

Sources close to the Treasury told Inside Housing that the government is contemplating the move. More details about the Affordable Homes Programme are expected in the coming weeks.

The revelations come after chancellor Rishi Sunak announced in his Budget today that the government would be committing £12bn to a five-year Affordable Homes Programme, which will start in 2021. The new programme marks a £3bn increase on the current £9bn programme, set to end in March next year.

In October at the Conservative Party conference, housing secretary Robert Jenrick announced that he would be looking to introduced a new shared ownership Right to Buy scheme that would give housing association tenants of newly built homes the option to buy their home under a ‘right to shared ownership’.

However, the proposals were met with criticism by housing association figures, with some raising concerns over the impact it would have on landlords’ ability to borrow money for new development. The National Housing Federation said it could worsen the housing crisis.

Some believed that the policy may have been dropped after it was omitted from the Conservative Party’s manifesto ahead of the general election, but the government confirmed last month that it was still on the table.

When Universal Credit was first announced I was expecting to probably be among the last legacy benefits to move over, being only on child tax credits.

My youngest will be 20 in 2026.

I must admit, I didn't expect it to take quite that long!
