Leeds city centre during the day seemed about the same as usual.

Leeds city centre coming home this evening was eerie and mostly deserted.

I kind of enjoyed it to be honest, there was a peaceful civilisation ends with a whimper vibe going on.

Not that I want people to die of course, this virus could kill my parents, or friends or me or you.

But wandering through a near silent city is an unusual aesthetic experience and it's one I'm going to treasure.

There's something similar in the attraction to Wyndham's The Day of the Triffids --

leaving aside the horrendous deaths, the prospect of a new beginning, in a cleaner world ...

Oh, In Puerto Rico , after the schools this afternoon, they've now closed down everything except foodshops & pharmacies and a few other essentials like gas and tobacco.
So NO wage for my dear friend there.

Engerland is looking somewhat isolated .

The World is looking on , with great interest .

My friend who I visited today had stopped listening to even his beloved radio 4 because he thought the BBC were scaremongering.

I did attempt to get him to pull his head out his own backside but he lives on the outskirts of Bradford so the only pasta that has been panic bought in his local Tesco is the cheap 'Hearty food' stuff (which I like) because basically everyone is poor. No organic spaghetti when there's economy toilet roll to be had.

That's exactly what I was thinking, I kept expecting a big flower to emerge from an alleyway and make the 'tock tock' noise from the 80's BBC adaptation which I wasn't supposed to be watching when I was a kid.

Also Genesis Porridge died.

I met him once and he was unpleasant.

I used to work in a venue in Newcastle called the Riverside.

It was communally owned until the old punks sold us out.

To be fair to Genesis Porridge many other performers were much bigger arseholes.

Tori Amos for example.

Yes indeed .My last brush with a less evil type was at boarding school in 1957 . A hundred boys laid low.
Checking the stats there were 9m sick and , ONLY 14,000 dead .
I now realise that I'm the proud owner of some H2N2 antibodies .

Any takers ?

Not sure which of those two I dislike the most!

And to compete with your Tori Amos story - I've met Errol Brown who was an arrogant git. Although I think he much later publicy admitted, and regretted, that he had been a total pain. He wasn't actively malevolent, though.

Where did that go? I thought HindleA had the monopoly in the "first you see it, then you don't" market.
