Morning.
Apologies for posting videos and making no political comment at all. Bad form.
Recently I've seen (not always watched) quite a few of these from various well known artists. People recording themselves solo. Then wishing people well and asking them to stay safe.

And this is a little miracle from Dimitri.

Morning all.
10:15 and back from shopping which was surprisingly easy unlike last weeks' chaotic scenes.
Yes we had to queue but it was orderly and I was in Sainsbury's inside 15 minutes and got pretty much everything I needed. Same with M&S although identifying where the queue actually is wasn't that easy given that it appeared to be people standing around across a pedestrianised street.

Can confirm that the shops appear to be returning to something like normal.

Sounds like my experience yesterday at Sainsbury's. Orderly, quick and most of what I needed was in. Fresh greens weren't there.RogerOThornhill wrote:Morning all.

Good afternoon, everyone.
Re: Saturday 28th & Sunday 29th March 2020
Sky'sGoneOut posted on yesterday's thread linking an article about a sizeable number of UK peoples fed by restaurants on a daily basis. I'd neglected thinking of the ramifications of closing restaurants. Some of the food shortages in the markets could reflect more people having to buy their food in markets rather than restaurants.

Not at least having the option of going out for a takeaway does alter your shopping.citizenJA wrote:Sky'sGoneOut posted on yesterday's thread linking an article about a sizeable number of UK peoples fed by restaurants on a daily basis. Not in the local Co-ops, sadly. Now thinking I won't ever again be able to get the bread I like, by the time it's over they'll have forgotten the recipe.AnatolyKasparov wrote:Can confirm that the shops appear to be returning to something like normal.
I decided to wait in the queue after the door-keeper assured me they had milk and bread, I'd bought everything else on the High St. It's 500m away with 2 butchers, 2 greengrocers and 2 bakers, all open with varying regard for social distancing.
But the chap behind me in the queue was complaining that there wasn't another supermarket locally. Morrisons had applied for planning a few years ago for a site on the bypass and he thought that we'd have more choice if it had gone ahead. I think we'd just have had 2 supermarkets with queues outside because all the shops on the High St would have closed.

Apparently the "rate of increase" is slowing, and this is good. Why exactly that is I will leave for others to explain.gilsey wrote:Today's figures are awful.

The clocks go forward 1 hour tonight. For all the practical difference that will make for most of us here. Although not knowing\doing it might make things even weirder and disorientating, I suppose.

It's been a remarkable couple of weeks. How can a University with 40,000 students just carry on. But we are.
Back soon. Love to you all. Stay well xxx

Forecast for 0900 4°, felt as --3 !
Blustery NE wind with rain , which is very unusual, but I got in two days worth of wood last night .
This vid is extremely good for those who have not yet realised that those corona-bombs can smuggle into your home on any sort of packaging such as mail or groceries . So you could send it on to those family and friends who perhaps still need waking up.
For the more aware, there are still some good tips, tho I haven't got so far as changing shoes before coming into the house as do some of the BTL commenters .

The risk involved in just 'going shopping' is on the increase , so better not do it very often ! Around here the official recommendation is to get in at least a week's worth at a time .

It's been years since I've lived in the US and I don't know if the law has been changed. It was illegal for emergency rooms (A&Es) and urgent care providers refusing treatment to anyone. After stabilising the patient, they could throw them out with a copy of the amount due.Sky'sGoneOut wrote:https://gizmodo.com/teen-who-died-of-co ... 1842520539

This is fascinating. Though comparisons between Philadelphia allowing a parade attended by 200,000 people to go ahead and the UK government's decision to allow Cheltenham and other mass gatherings during the early stages doesn't auger well I fear:

I just got snowed on while queueing outside Tesco, it was worth it though when I got to triumphantly brandish a bag of frozen peas over my head. Even managed to get tomato puree. Don't know what to cook now, so many culinary possibilities have suddenly opened up. Decisions, decisions.
The shop was surprisingly crowded, I don't know if they'd let more people in because of the early closing on Sunday but it was nigh on impossible to keep your distance.
I really fancy a risotto but the only rice I have left is cheap long grain stuff and I'm 99.9% certain that would end in disaster.
