Oh no that is terrible news. My condolences to those who knew him in the real world. He was one of the good ones on here and will be sorely missed.
Re: Friday 17th April 2020
Very sorry for him, to his family and to all, especially Sky here.

That's just awful news.
With a few exceptions no-one of us know each other in the outside world yet although this is a daily politics forum, it's a actually group of like minded friends sharing stories, news about themselves and family, jokes, music and more.
Poor Adrian. So sad.

If I'm not here, then I'll be in the library. Or the other library.

He was a very heavy smoker. I tried to get him to cut down or take up vaping instead but he regarded it as his single vice and wasn't going to take lectures from someone with multiple vices like myself. He unarguably had a point.AnatolyKasparov wrote:Was it the virus?

Re: Friday 17th April 2020
Just to give people an idea of what Hindle/Adrian was like in real life, he was a tiny ball of nervous energy, I'm guessing about 5 foot 6 and skinny as a rake because he ran half marathons constantly throughout the season, all across the UK and Europe. Whenever I visited we'd go for long walks and I'd try to interest him in the butterflies or birds but he was always racing off ahead scaring everything away much to my annoyance because he wasn't used to a pace as slow as my own. And he would talk and talk and talk to everything. I remember during one of these walks we stopped because it was the middle of summer and boiling hot and rested in the shadow of a wall, when a horse loomed over us to eat the grass we were sitting on and he was up giving it a name and engaging it in conversation for about half an hour while I sat chuckling below. I think that was the day he told me about being a member of Militant in Liverpool. He knew Derek Hatton and had been part of all that.
But when it comes down to it he was just a really lovely bloke. A man aware especially of health and benefit injustices as he'd had to deal with both when caring for his dying wife. I never asked him about that in any depth. I was always too much of a coward.
And he was funny and good to be around.
I'll miss him.

All of this.Sky'sGoneOut wrote:He was an easy to get on with, non-judgemental, happy to oblige, funny, daft, irritating, pig headed, lovely person and I'm so glad I knew him.
How is it fair that he's dead when there are so many arseholes in this world?
I was so sure he was with his mum.
I can't stop crying.

Also he had this old tatty reclining chair that was his chair with a big Kermit the Frog cushion and after our walks he'd fall asleep with Kermit because he worked permanent nightshifts cleaning at a local wharehouse so his sleep cycles were always askew.
He was nothing like what you would imagine given the evidence of what he posted here, but whenever I overstepped the line offering a more personal account of him, even pictures of his marathons, he would tell me off. He said he wanted to maintain a persona.
And now I can't access any of those pictures because he's taken his password with him.

Anyway, the silly bugger was a Queen fan and admitted to being in a fan club in the Seventies.
