Harry Dunn death: diplomatic immunity for Anne Sacoolas 'illogical'

Britain agreed to let Anne Sacoolas, the driver charged with killing 19-year-old motorcyclist Harry Dunn, return to the US on the basis of an “apparently illogical” interpretation of the law on diplomatic immunity, according to the most senior civil servant at the Foreign Office.

The description of this interpretation given to the foreign affairs select committee by Sir Simon McDonald, the permanent under-secretary and head of the diplomatic service, will add fuel to the efforts of the Dunn family to mount a judicial review of the Foreign Office’s decision-making in the case. Unintended consequences - school network password also covers online Office 365 and Outlook for school email, where all distance learning work is being done. It has a regular expiry date for passwords to be changed. They expired this morning. They can't be reset remotely. I suspect a lot of staff are going to be phoning school this morning. I once accidentally emailed the technicians from a personal account so I have the address to hand but otherwise it would just be the phone...

Government moving goalposts on testing. Initial pledge was to "carry out 100,000 tests for coronavirus by the end of this month".

Today, testing co-ordinator John Newton said: "We are on target to have capacity for 100,000 tests a day."

“You think you're having a bad week? My poor colleague has just been in to do her weekly check of the library building. The cleaner has started deep cleaning the space (so far, so good) and has cleaned the shelves but has put 18.5 bays of books back on IN SIZE ORDER.”
