This Morning - the same This Morning that took a selfie with the PM before the election - giving the government a roasting.

I'm absolutely furious after last night's new "advice". Sending people to their deaths is what it is.

I've got some advice - your workplace will not have been made safe, so stay at home.

People being "advised" to wear masks in public places from Wednesday, apparently. I presume they will be made easily available, then?

Tbf, they're pretty easily available on ebay now.

There's nothing to discuss, is there. Govt are screwing up spectacularly and the Great British public think they're doing a fine job.

We could discuss when this might change but we might as well wait and see.

IMO if/when it does change it will be irrecoverable for the tories.

Regular masks and face coverings are only really going to work if everyone wears them. So, for instance, if you want everyone to wear one while using public transport, which would be pretty sensible, you need to make them readily available at all bus and train stations, really. Which is what they're doing in Spain, although I haven't seen anything yet on how well that's going. Sadly our government can't even be bothered to try to make public transport safe and have decided to simply abandon those who rely on it, which is pretty shocking.

Their approval ratings are on a slow but consistent downward trend tbf - and that was *before* the cluster**** of the last 24 hours.

Yes, but supplying the masks wouldn't be the constraint, handing them out and policing it would. As with just about everything else we need to address this crisis properly, we don't have the staff.

I've just been reading some comments on Johnson's daily briefing on mumsnet. The word 'pitiful' came up a few times and one commenter said Dominic Raab was better, which can't be a good sign, and several people wondered if he was still ill.

How long can we actually go on like this? He clearly isn't up to the job since becoming unwell, if he ever was. Something has to change, soon.
