Good to see Labour picking the right things to support at the moment - sentences for statue vandals.
In other news...
James McAsh @mcash
Under government plans, vandalising a war monument will carry a longer jail sentence than:
- Racially aggravated GBH
- Attempted intercourse with a girl under 13
- Abduction
The policy is bonkers. It's a dog whistle to their far-right supporters.

Point is, and for once I agree with the likes of David Aaronovitch on this, its all a load of confected bull***t so there is no need for Labour to give the Tories what they want and let them start off a week long culture war of "by opposing this, Labour are showing they hate the likes of YOU".
There is already the capacity to sentence people for up to 10 years for desecrating (say) the Cenotaph in existing legislation (passed by that well known Trumpist populist, Edward Heath) and there is no way that whatever "law" is passed, people will get that long (or indeed jailed at all) for an inappropriately placed BLM sticker for example.
There are times when it is best to not play along.
