We know face coverings protect others from the wearer. This isn't disputed. Logic therefore dictates that if everyone in a shop wears a face covering everyone in that shop is safer than if they didn't.

What's the fucking problem with temporarily putting a bit of cloth on your face? What kind of pitiful excuse for a human being would make a fuss about it when it could lower the infection rate and save lives?

Don't you just love what that 'libertarian streak' has done for Florida and Arizona and Georgia and Alabama?

Viruses don't do politics. And even if they did I would expect something which lacks even a basic metabolic system would laugh at Ayn Rand's alleged Objectivism.

Multiple studies have shown face masks protect others from those wearing them. If you're too dumb to extrapolate that out to its logical conclusion then I couldn't give a fuck if you're 'a little uncomfortable' because frankly we're attempting to control a pandemic and as the examples from the U.S show it only takes a few idiots whingeing about wearing masks being an infrigement of their liberties to cause thousands of deaths.

(Apologies to HowSillyofme1, I'm drunk and frustrated at some of the lame arguments they made but there was no need for me to be such a dick about it.)

Your point about extrapolation is a valid one, though. It's obvious. I think I've made it (possibly here) before. It's so obvious, that extrapolation is too grand a term for that situation and probably only serves to muddy the waters.

But it's evidently not obvious to about 95% of the population of England.

They've got terrible manners (if you follow Michael Gove's reasoning).

It's looking more and more obvious that we're on our own re Covid19. The Government's priorities are becoming more clear by the day. To almost everyone, I'd hope. Even to journalists (I've been watching the Press Preview). They may be slightly nuanced, but they're getting there. At least some of them are - and not just the most obvious ones. (Stephen Bush and Kate Andrews tonight - New Statesman and Spectator respectively.)

Absolutely, we've been left to get on with it ourselves guided by 'common sense'.

The problem being my common sense is worth 1000 other fuckwits combined common sense.

Why should I, an educated individual who reads at least the abstracts of articles in the scientific press about Coronavirus have to share the same air in a supermarket with disease ridden morons whose common sense extends to them having barbecues in their squalid back yards or sharing a beach covered in human shit.

You're absolutely right, we all need to look after ourselves and our families now because our government has washed its hands of all responsibility.
