Yes, and all very cliquey...

Johnson’s idea of smashing elites and making Flag of United Kingdom a meritocracy: Allegra Stratton, today named his press secretary, is married to James Forsyth, political editor of the Spectator, which Johnson once edited. Mary Wakefield, its commissioning editor, is married to Dominic Cummings.

I remember watching the 2012 opening ceremony while on holiday in Italy. We sat on the roof terrace to watch the tv inside the room. I enjoyed it for sure, but I had no idea how wonderful and amazing such a simple, carefree experience would seem 8 years later.

The problem with that ceremony is that too many interpreted it as a statement of what we actually are (which the following 8 years has done a lot to disprove, of course)

Rather than the correct line, which is that it was what we *could* be.

indeed - though i really just meant the simple act of going on holiday and wandering about freely (was simple and carefree)

Anyone who thinks that Blue labour shouldn't be trusted has some more evidence as to why they might be right.

Claire Fox
@Fox_Claire
A special thanks to Alison Wolf @XXFactorFacts & Maurice Glasman @blue_labour
for doing me the great honour of introducing me to The Lords today. Those on here who disagree with me, please don't drag them into it. Some people deserve credit for being gracious & generous.

Fox in Ermine
From Revolutionary Communist to Lady Buckley

https://bylinetimes.com/2020/10/08/fox- ... y-buckley/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
The people of Buckley – just 32 miles down the road from Warrington – are not best pleased with the association. The town clerk wrote to Johnson in September and complained about it, pointing out that no permission had been sought and that the people didn’t want their good name tarnished in such a manner.

But of course, Lady Fox has no need to consult the little people – she’s a baroness now. Her appointment a gift from the Tory Old Etonian Prime Minister Boris Johnson, perhaps with some nudging from her old friend Mirza, for services to Brexit.

Regeneron, the antibody cocktail that Trump has been mischaracterized as a “cure”, was developed with cells derived from human fetal tissue – a practice that the administration opposes.
Not for the first time, you wonder at just how much the Republican's hardcore from the church will put up with. I'm sure they'll find another way to justify this.
