Hello. I see (Guardian) that citizens of Kent are enraged about Brexit lorry park - not enough consultation apparently.
On the other hand those same citizens voted 59% for Brexit. Still France is happy (2,500 financial jobs plus 170 billion in assets). And UK can now import lower-standard food.

On average the rate of COVID infection is 1.9 x higher amongst primary and secondary teachers than the general population
People are querying the data here but if it's even close to this number the government have some serious explaining to do.

So, does the Telegraph know that in a famine, when people migrate, it's because, ummm, they were starving? And, umm, this was not a good thing for Britain's relationship with Ireland?

On PM yesterday Evan Davies was questioning the wisdom of leaving 2nd dose of vaccinations until just before the 12 weeks are up
1. person might be unable to attend for some reason
2. vaccine might not be available.

I'd assumed that once the 4 groups had their first dose, by mid Feb as they say, they'd start on 2nd doses but apparently not. Leave it to the last possible minute and hope for the best.

Basically, Trump ran on "drain the swamp" and put into place ethics rules that forbid certain kind of lobbying work after being a public servant... because it harmed Obama staffers. Now he's ending those rules for his own staffers, so they can go lobby.

'Absolute carnage': EU hauliers reject UK jobs over Brexit rules

Freight company director blames new requirement for EU transport firms to provide financial guarantees

A British freight company director [Colin Jeffries] with more than over 20 years experience has told how EU hauliers and transport companies are turning their backs on UK business because they are being asked to provide tens of thousands of pounds in guarantees to cover VAT or potential tariffs on arrival in Britain.

Jeffries explains that one of the problems is how complicated exporting to the UK has become. (Guardian)

Thing is, given his past record even such a definitive statement has little value. Still half expecting them to be called off hours before nominations close :wall:

His pitiful little farewell jamboree was pretty daft. There wasn't a single senior Republican there, just a bedraggled gaggle of his family and hangers on. If it did anything it demonstrated starkly how dramatic his fall from power has been today. And judging by the look on the faces of his family that was only beginning to sink in. Ivanka looked terrified. Or maybe it was the botox. It's hard to tell.

‘We All Got Played’: QAnon Followers Implode After Big Moment Never Comes

https://www.forbes.com/sites/jackbrewst ... ver-comes/
As Joe Biden was sworn in as president, QAnon followers finally saw their hope for the “storm”—when President Donald Trump would bring down the “deep state” and expose a far-reaching child-sex trafficking ring—disappear, leaving followers of the unhinged conspiracy theory in despair and searching for answers, while one of the most prominent adherents gave up.

On their big day, QAnon adherents fractured into two groups on popular far-right message boards, with some realizing their crackpot conspiracy theory was a fraud, while others tried to somehow keep the hope alive.

It won't be going away in a hurry, too many people are making money from it. I suspect they'll continue to fracture into smaller groups with competing 'theories', there'll be a lot of fighting for control of the revenue streams before it eventually collapses in on itself leaving a burnt out husk of true believers ranting on street corners.

I got a bottle of Californian red to celebrate the inauguration of a sane person as President. I don't often drink American wine because it usually tastes like crap and this one is no exception.

Also I splashed out on some triple cooked 'gastro' oven chips and they tasted just like ordinary oven chips only they were bigger and more rubbery. They also left a load of runny slime on the oven tray. Won't be making that mistake again.
